Maytag Jetclean Plus MDB7609AWW

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

With a busy career, a husband and three teenage boys, I need a dishwasher I can depend on. I love my guys, but they are a bunch of clutzes when it comes to loading a dishwasher. Thankfully my Maytag makes up for what they lack.

If there is one thing I don't like, it's getting up in the morning, opening the dishwasher to unload it and finding food crusted on the dishes after having been through the drying cycle. I've tried training the guys to do a better job loading (yeah, good luck with that), as well as buying the more expensive automatic dishwashing products in an effort to combat this problem, but to no avail. Finally, I decided the dishwasher had to be replaced.

Labor Day weekend, my favorite appliance store was having a big sale, so my husband and I went to check it out. I found the Maytag Jetclean Plus had all the features I was looking for - stainless steel large capacity tub, a variety of wash temperature cycles and a quiet sound package. I also noticed the ball tips on the rack tines. Add to that it was on sale, so we bought it. I was disappointed they were charging a good bit more for the stainless steel version, but figured the inside was the more important part and since that was the same, I chose the black one instead. The machine was delivered and installed the following day.

That night I put it to the test. The first thing I noticed was how quietly it operated. I found myself opening the door to make sure it was running, even though the panel lights indicated it was. I thought, "So far, so good, but the proof will come in the morning!"

The next morning when I went in the kitchen to make coffee and start breakfast, the first thing I did was to check on the dishes. Much to my delight, everything was sparkling clean - even the lasagna dish, which had gone in with some baked on cheese I intentionally left for test purposes. How wonderful it is to wake-up to clean dishes! I did notice some hazy glasses on a few occasions, but when I changed detergents, the problem went away.

That was two years ago and I haven't had a bit of trouble with my dishwasher. The guys, however, aren't too fond of it. With how well it has performed, I have them on KP duty more often and enjoy a night out with the girls knowing the dishes will be clean in the morning. I'm also saving money on dishwashing compound because it does also a great job with the more economical brands. I'm sold on Maytag!
