When I went searching for a new window air conditioner to replace the one that died in the middle of the hot part of summer, I wasn't really familiar with the LG brand. My first priority was finding an air conditioner that would cool the living area of my home without costing a fortune. The LG LWHD1500ER is a 15,000 BTU that cools areas up to 800 sq. ft. It was a lot less expensive than any of the air conditioners I found that were made to cool the same size area so I purchased it.

This air conditioner is not made for a single person to install. It is very heavy and I had to have someone install it for me although it did come with the window installation kit so I didn't have to have anything else. Once it was up and running, I found that it cooled the area very quickly. I can easy adjust the air flow to go in the direction where I want it. It has three fan speeds so that I can adjust it when I need more or less circulation. In addition to the other cooling options, it also has a Dry Air option that helps on those days when humidity is a problem.

The LG air conditioner is Energy Star qualified which means I save on electricity when I use it. It also has an Energy Saver setting that allows the unit to cut on and off rather than running consistently. It also offers the option of running the fan without cooling so I can enjoy fresh, filtered air on those days or evenings when the temperature is cooler.

The LG unit is much quieter than my old air conditioner and it offers the convenience of running in a standard outlet. I can adjust the temperature up or down with the touch of a button on the control pad. The unit even has a built-in timer so that I can leave it running when I go to bed and set it to turn itself off once the temperature has cooled down after I go to sleep.

The filter is in the front panel and can easily be accessed by flipping the panel down and just popping out the filter. It's easy to clean and replace so the unit continues to perform at its best. The unit also comes with a remote but, honestly, it is easier to adjust the air conditioner manually than to try to keep up with another remote.

I would have to say that this emergency purchase has turned out to be of much higher quality and performance than I had anticipated and it definitely offers a better value than comparable models of other brand air conditioners.
