I work in a home office that was added on to my home without extra heat vents being added to the room. I purchased a Honeywell Space Heater HZ-817, which is a baseboard heater that is designed to heat an entire room. This is a convection heater and it has two separate heat settings including a Quick Heat mode and a convection heating mode.

For those really cold days, the Quick Heat mode produces a steady blast of warm air throughout the office to provide quick warmth so I don't have to wait for a long time to get comfortable enough to get to work. In the standard convection heating mode, it produces even, consistent heat to the room to maintain the temperature once it is where I want it to be.

I didn't want a space heater that was loud since I need to have some quiet in order to focus on my work. I would have to say that I don't even realize it when the heater is running. Once I have used the Quick Heat setting to get it comfortable, I turn the heater off. The heater will then begin to cycle on and off to maintain the temperature. I just set it to the temperature that I feel most comfortable with and the heater automatically keeps the room at that temperature.

Although I have found that this feature of the Honeywell heater has made it energy efficient, there is also an Energy Smart mode that will regulate the amount of power the heater uses in order to save even more on the energy bill. Using this feature will cause the heater to lower its power consumption once your optimum temperature has been reached so that it provides warmth without using too much energy.

Safety was another important factor in my choice of heaters since I don't feel comfortable about leaving a heater running in my home. The Honeywell Space Heater is packed with safety features that make me much more comfortable. First, it offers Overheat Protection so that the switch shuts off when the high temperature is reached. Also, an indicator changes from black to red when the grille is hot and Tip-Over Protection will cause the heater to stop operating if it is tipped over. This is great for rooms where pets or children might be playing.

This heater is exactly what I needed for my office. It keeps me comfortable when it is a little chilly as well as during extremely cold weather. It has provided me with optimal performance and is easy to use.
