The Honeywell HZ-315 Quick Heat Ceramic Heater was, at first, the perfect space heater. I got it essentially to keep my bedroom warm during the winter when I lived in a 100-year old house. I also found it great for keeping my feet warm when I was working on the computer, which I do frequently. It wasn't overly noisy, was very compact and had adjustable heat levels so you could actually just make it a fan to cool you down if you got too hot. For such a small unit, I was very impressed with how well it heated a room all by itself.

Over time, however, this space heater deteriorated. First, it stopped getting as hot as it used to, then it wasn't getting hot at all. I began to just use it as a fan because that at least still worked. Then it started to get finicky; you often had to jiggle the power cord to get it to work. That situation just got worse and worse. It would run for a while, then shut down. I'd get up and move the cord a bit, then it would start up again only to shut down on its own later. Sometimes it would actually start up again on its own without me jiggling the power cord. I eventually just had to stop using it for fear or a fire hazard.

While this Honeywell space heater worked great for a while, I was unimpressed by how quickly it expired. I've had space heaters that have literally been passed down to me from older people in my family. These old units looked like they were 20+ years old and they were still going strong. "They don't make 'em like they used to" is a worn-out adage, but utterly true in this case. 2 out of 5 stars.
