GE Profile Spacemaker 1800 Microwave JVM1870BF001

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

This microwave came installed when we purchased our home six years ago. After almost daily use for six years for everything from heating a cup of water, to defrosting chicken, to popping popcorn, it sill works as if it's brand new. It is an under the counter design with a sleek black color. Although it came with a manual (and cookbook), all of the buttons are self explanatory. The top of the button pad has a one touch sensor pad that includes preset buttons for popcorn, vegetables, reheat, beverage, potato, and chicken/fish. I was unbelievably surprised that the buttons are incredibly accurate as for how much time is needed.

The middle of the button pad has cook, auto defrost, and 1 lb. quick defrost. The lower pad has where you can put in the seconds or minutes you want it to heat for. The best feature of this microwave is the express cook buttons. These buttons are for 1-6 minutes and all you have to do is push which one you want. For instance, if you want something to cook for 3 minutes, instead of typing in the minutes, then the seconds, then cook, you simply push the "3" button. Other buttons include vent fan, vent boost, and surface light, which has a low or high light setting.

The performance of this unit is always consistent. The food is always the correct temperature as there is no fluctuation in the heating. The inside of the microwave has a glass plate that moves circular as the food is cooking. The glass plate fits easily in the dishwasher for easy cleaning. The unit also comes with a plastic elevated shelf to use for defrosting. This is the best microwave I have ever owned, and I would not hesitate to purchase the exact model again.
