This dishwasher is one of the products in Frigidaire's Professional product line. It is stainless steel, with a protective coating to reduce fingerprints and make cleaning easier. It has numerous features that I appreciate. At the top of the list is the trademarked SilentDesign (TM) sound package. This is such an exceptionally quiet dishwasher that I have even had some house guests remark on it. It also has three spray arms--top, middle, and bottom--which ensures the dishes and glassware get sparkly clean no matter where they are positioned. This model's design gives the user a lot of placement options, too. The bottom rack has two rows of tines that can be folded down so that larger items can be accommodated more easily, and the large silverware basket can be moved to various positions in the bottom rack, depending on my needs. The silverware basket has a covered section that I use for lighter items, such as plastic measuring spoons, so that they don't end up at the bottom of the dishwasher, melted. The top rack also has fold-down tines and is adjustable, so that I can lower it to fit a larger pot or bowl on the top. I also find the adjustable feature useful when loading some longer-stemmed wine glasses I have that wouldn't have fit otherwise. Additionally, the top rack has a stemware holder to keep the glasses from toppling into one another or into other items, thus preventing breakage.

The Frigidaire FPHD2491KF has six cycles: power plus, normal wash, light wash, energy saver, china/crystal, and rinse only. In addition, the user can choose among four options: sanitize, high temperature wash, air dry, and delay start. The power plus is designed for the dirtiest load and automatically activates the high temperature option in order to remove grease and dirt more effectively. The user can also choose the high temperature wash when using the normal wash and light wash cycles. The sanitize option can be used with the power plus, normal wash, or light wash cycles. It functions to raise the water temperature in the final rinse to 155?F (68?C) to ensure that bacteria are destroyed. The "last cycle memory" feature remembers the last cycle selections, so the user need only press the start/cancel pad to begin the wash cycle unless changes in settings are desired.

I honestly have not found anything about my Frigidaire Professional dishwasher that I do not like. With an MSRP of $799, this model is very competitively priced. Similar dishwashers produced by Bosch, Kenmore, and KitchenAid sell for $750-$850.

I bought this machine because I had great success with a fridge through Frigidare. Unfortunately the top rack plastic coating began to peel away revealing the metal coils underneath. I called customer support and explained since it had not been a year at that point and they didn't want to replace it. They said it was a cosmetic defect! Was really ridiculous considering I bought a more expensive model thinking it would last for years. I can't believe that Frigidaire doesn't back up their machines. It is clearly a defect in workmanship the plastic should never be coming off that soon. I have never seen a machine and my last dish washer was 10 years old. They said the best they could do is sell me another rack for 70.00!!!
