Some friends of ours were in the process of converting an old bus into a mobile home to park at a deer camp, and were looking to install an oven range inside. They were adamant that they wanted nothing but electric appliances, as gas in the small buss would likely pose a hazard. Having recently priced stove ranges ourselves, we had looked at the electric ranges, but had opted to go with gas for our home. However, we were able to advise our friends on what we had researched and suggested they look at the units in Best Buy. They ended up purchasing a Frigidaire freestanding electric range for about $350. It did not come with a power cord, and so they had to purchase a new one separately.

I find the knob controls for this unit are not very well placed. They are on the rear console of the stove, which makes it necessary to reach over the burner, which could have hot pots on them, to operate the stove, which could pose a safety hazard. However, the burners are nicely spaced apart, giving the stove top plenty of room. The oven is 4.8 cubic feet and has two racks inside, and it heats up fairly quickly. It also has a broiler drawer, which my friends don't make a lot of use of at their camp.

There is a window and interior light on the oven, so that the user does not have to open the door during cooking to see if the food is done. One good feature is the upswept sides of the stove top, keeping accidental food spills from dripping off the side. It was also lightweight and easy to maneuver into place, and the hookup was easy. Aside from the not-so-convenient placement of the operation controls, the unit has done very well in the converted bus deer camp. It is more or less a permanent fixture and regular electrical wiring was run to the camp, so the stove could be operated without any conversion needed. It turned out to be a good buy for my friends.
