Sears' Craftsman brand continues its tradition of excellence with this C3 cordless 5 1/2" trim saw. This Craftsman C3 Cordless Circular saw not disappoint the home owner/ do it yourselfer.

The Craftsman C3 tools feature a 19.2 volt rechargeable battery that can be used in any of the tools. This means you can power a drill, light, or in this case the 5 1/2" circluar saw all with the same battery. The 19.2 volt battery gives a great amount of power and is long lasting.

The only problem I experienced with this saw is the size of the blade. At only 5 1/2" I found it to be smaller then what I was used to using. My other circular saw has an 8" blade. I am still finding it difficult to work with the smaller blade.

The saw can cut one and an eighth inch deep on a 45 degree angle. At 90 degrees it does a little more: 1 9/16". The saw has an motor that works at 4500 rpm and has enough power to cut almost any trim or small wood. I found 2x4s to be just about the largest wood this saw can handle with ease.

In my experience the adjustable guide on the front of the saw was weak and if it isn't screwed on very tight it would either fall off or simply not hold well enough to guide the saw through the cut. I have not checked the variety of available blades, therefore I cannot comment on other blades. But the Carbide blade that ones with the saw has worked fantastic for all the cuts I have made. I also do not foresee a need to replace any time soon.

Overall if you are looking for a small saw lightweight saw for fast and quick cuts this saw will fit your needs. But if you need a power house for major work, look elsewhere. -Reviewed by ConchRaider 12/14/2010
