The saw was purchased at Sear's seven years ago, for approximately $100.00. Compared to other models, such as De Walt and Black and Decker, the Craftsman is markedly less expensive. The most expensive table saw is made by Bosch, priced at $1000. It has a competent look about it, at 19-5/8 in. x 25 in. it has a cast aluminum worktable and expands to 55-1/2 in. with two aluminum telescoping extension wings and features a riving knife system. The set up system is easy to deploy, and facilitates, even when the materials are resistant. It has a "blade guard-mounted Laser Trac system" that guides the work piece for more accurate cuts. The dust collection bag and clip system make it easy to remove sawdust, and the two roller wheels located on the steel stand make it easy to move. It has no other special capabilities and performs only the simplest of tasks, which suited us, as we had no other intended use for this tool. It was not used frequently, but seemed reliable. It did not pass the safety test when my daughter almost cut the end of her finger off. There needs to be some method of ensuring that fingers are not allowed to be close to the saw when it's operating. For the most part, the saw performed well right up to the time it didn't. We used the saw until the summer of 2010 when it stopped working. It will not turn on and we've looked at everything we know to look at to fix it. We have not taken it to be repaired, because we anticipate that the repair charges would be close to the original price.
