Combi Zeus 360 Convertible Car Seat

The design of this car seat makes this one of the most wonderful baby product ideas I have ever used. Being able to turn the car seat toward the door to put the newborn into the seat is absolutely amazing. So much hassle, so many awkward turns, and so many potential bumps are completely eliminated. It is absolutely worth the money for that reason alone.

There are other features that are great. The included padding boost, used for newborns, is comfortable and keeps the head firmly in place. Though I've heard people have worries about the effectiveness of this insert, I have been completely satisfied and have never worried about the baby's head. The harness is well-designed, easy to get on and off, but not so easy that tiny, curious fingers could do it. The padded straps are comfy, without the scratchy bindings along the seems some less expensive car seat have. One of the best things is that the straps never twist and then get caught in the plastic clips, which saves untold aggravation.

One small problem I have with this car seat is its size. It actually takes up less room, front-to-back than other car seats I've looked at, including a very similar Britax model. That's nice, and allows the passenger seat to be leaned back a few more inches. However, the seat is extremely high. I have a fairly low-slung sedan, and while the twisting seat is fantastically helpful, getting the baby in and out requires a strange down-and-up motion to keep her head out of the way. Down beneath the door of the car and then up to where the seat sits.

The car seat is also very heavy. I was unable to get it into the car myself. While this isn't really a concern for me, because this seat will stay in the same vehicle until the baby outgrows it, it could be a concern for parents who switch the seat from car to car.
