The Callaway Diablo Edge Irons Hybrid Combo Set of golf clubs is designed specifically to help the amateur golfer achieve more consistency with iron shots as well as gain more distance. This set comprises of 8 clubs including 2 hybrids; all with graphite shafts.

To help with obtaining extra distance the clubs have extra long shafts, the longest that Callaway have ever made for standard irons meant for amateurs. They do require a bit of getting used to because of this but Callaway's claims for the clubs are borne out in practice. It is possible to consistently hit the ball about 10 yards further than with standard length shafts.

Of course it is pointless hitting the ball further if all you are doing is driving it further into the rough. The Callaway Diablo Edge irons are designed to help you hit the ball straighter so that you can make the most of the extra distance you achieve. They do this by providing a lower and deeper than average center of gravity. This design creates an area on the clubface right in line with where most amateur golfers make contact with the ball, thus reducing the number of "fluffed" shots caused by hitting the ball off center.

In use this certainly seems to work as the new clubs feel perfectly balanced and they almost direct your swing into the right position at impact with the ball so as to obtain greater accuracy. It is also easier to get the ball in the air with the hybrid clubs which replace the difficult to use long irons. The hybrids can also be used from the rough in situations where you might otherwise be forced to resort to a short iron or a wedge. This enables you to retrieve a poor shot instead of losing one or two shots.
The clubs generally have a nice solid feel to them. The grips are particularly secure feeling and are a nice compromise between comfort and giving a dependable hold on the club. The shape of the club sole has also been redesigned so as to even out the possibilities of hitting the ball thick or thin. It means that poor shots are not quite as bad as they would have been with clubs that have a more standard shape.

The Callaway Diablo Edge irons are not particularly cheap but at least they will enable you to achieve greater distance and improved accuracy with your iron shots. The hybrids especially are a boon as getting results with the standard type of long irons is very difficult for most amateur players.
