This Brother sewing machine will be an excellent one for the dedicated home sewer to use. As more creative expressions have opened up, those who love to sew will require a machine that can fit all their needs. Understanding that flexibility in the types of stitches is necessary for today's sewer, the Brother CS6000I will provide enough of a variety for even the most demanding user. This sewing machine has a LCD display that makes stitch selection easy through computerization; it is very simple to change the style of stitch and the length. Computerized stitch selection makes it certain that the proper stitch is chosen for the job.

There are 41 utility stitches available, as well as 34 that can be used for decoration. Anyone who purchases this sewing machine will be able to use it for a myriad of functions such as quilting, mending, making clothes, and applying decorative stitches. One very nice feature is the large table accessory that makes quilting on the Brother CS6000I very easy and comfortable. This table is also handy when sewing almost anything, as well. It is easy to make very professional looking buttonholes with this sewing machine - making this aspect of sewing a pleasure rather than a chore.

While there are higher priced sewing machines available, the Brother CS600I will undoubtedly perform nearly as many functions, and be easier to use, as well. Many of the more expensive machines are difficult to operate, but the Brother will allow you to start sewing on it quickly. It is important to read the instruction manual that comes with the machine, this can eliminate confusion with getting started. Some thread tension problems may arise, including the bobbin thread bunching up on the bottom of the fabric. However, by adjusting the tension carefully and being sure to use a better thread, this problem will probably be solved.

The Brother CS6000I only weighs 13 pounds, which makes it easy to be moved from place to place if necessary. Although most people prefer to use a foot pedal when sewing, there is also a button available on the front of the machine for stopping and starting sewing. The pedal will have to be unplugged for the button to operate. One very nice feature is that the sewing speed that is most comfortable to the user can be preset, rather than having to depend of pressure to control this.

Besides the table, this machine comes with a hard, protective case and several useful accessories such as a set of needles, brush for cleaning, bobbins, and seam ripper, among others. To make this sewing machine even more useful, a Vertical Stitch Alignment Foot for exact top stitching is available, as well as an assortment of clear plastic feet, which are especially useful when quilting.

Perhaps one of the best things about this sewing machine is that it provides so many features for such a small price. Most people would expect the features and quality of stitching to only be available on sewing machines costing a great deal more, but this is not the case. The Brother CS6000I is generally available for about $150.00. This will put it into the range of almost anyone who is looking for a new sewing machine. A limited 25 year guarantee comes with this machine, also. The Brother CS6000I was released by the company in 2007, and is available from many sources.

Thumbs up Brother 6000I for quilting

Don't forget that the Brother 6000I is also great for quilting. At least one of those 60 stitches is suitable for quilting, and the machine comes with a quilting foot and a bed extension.

cheers,
Jim
