Breville CVN15 Compact Oven

Rating: 4 out of 5
  • Currently 4.0/5.0

This was actually purchased only because a few months before kitchen renovations were due to begin, the oven we had stopped working, so we needed something in between the time. I am actually quite pleased with this oven. I didn't expect much because I had never used an oven like this, but I have never had any issues with it.

It has all the features needed for basic cooking and I had no trouble making everything from grilled cheese toast to muffins and a small lasagne. I will mention that the heat and time on this did not correspond exactly to what I was used to cooking in a normal size inbuilt oven but after a few times the difference is very easy to adjust to.

There are 6 heights that the rack can be placed on which means that larger items can fit with enough room at the top and by putting it close to the top it grills food just as well as an inbuilt griller would.

It's temperature goes up to 230 degrees C, which is actually a bit higher then my last oven went (although it was a bit old), but for a portable oven that is excellent. It also has a timer which is as easy as twisting a knob to the desired time.

Cleaning is very easy as the crumb tray slides out the bottom and otherwise a quick wipe down is all it needs to really keep clean.

If it wasn't for the fact that our kitchen is equipped with more then enough appliances, I would probably keep this on the bench and use it more regularly for everything that was quickly cooked, even toast. It has a special toast function which can be set with how dark and cooked you want the toast to be.

It really isn't that heavy either so moving it around from place to place isn't much hassle. It is so convenient as cooking can be done in various places throughout the kitchen depending on the current bench space and it doesn't take up much room. I would recommend this to anyone looking to buy a compact oven.
