Bosch SHX4AP05UC Ascenta Series Fully Integrated Dishwasher - Stainless Steel

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

I've never been a believer in dishwashers but this one has really impressed me. The most important feature is obviously how well it cleans. I have tested this model with dishes that are egg on them, melted cheese, burnt sugar - everything I can think of. It's all been cleaned with no exception. I really have been shocked by how great this dishwasher cleans.

I also really love the design. I have all stainless steel appliances in my kitchen so this really fit in well. It's very sleek and doesn't take up much room. However, the fact that it doesn't take up much room of course means that it doesn't hold a ton either. I actually chose a smaller model because I didn't think I'd use it that much. If I'd known just how well it cleaned I would definitely have chosen a larger model.

One factor that was very important to me was the noise level. With two small children in the house, I really didn't want a model that I could only run during the busiest parts of the day. The good news is that it is so whisper quiet while it's running that it would never wake my kids. However, it does beep when the cycle is completed. This can get a bit frustrating as I do worry that it's too loud, but so far it hasn't caused any problems. In fact, my husband often doesn't even notice it's running and tries to add dishes to it - it's that quiet.

The only complain I have with the design is the location of the silverware rack. It's located so far in the back of the unit that I actually have to pull the whole bottom drawer out to add silverware. Overall though, that's a minor complaint and I found this to be an excellent value for the money.
