yorkies are commonly mixed w/ poodles to make yorkie-poos... personally, i do not like the mix... i agree with tanisha ,and i'm sure there are many more out there that will agree with us.

Yorkies actually look really cute mixed with bichons.  If you have the majority of the breeding yorkie pedigree, and a bit bichon, they usually turn out the best!

yorkie-poo's(yorkie x poodle) are the cutest smartest puppies in the world! I am biased as I have on but I really get stopped by everyone and even people driving by stop to ask what she is. She has the colouring of a yorkie but much softer cottony hair and a much softer less harsh looking face.

Don't breed a mutt on purpose? What an ignorant statement. How do you think pedigree breeds evolved? Oops... I mean appeared. Magically? LOL Riiiiight. "Mutts" are commonly know to be happier, healthier and more loyal dogs than any pedigree. By the way... pedigrees took not only decades but sometimes centuries to perfect by cross breeding. "Mutts" are the DNA of pedigree. =)

I also have a yorkie poo.  It is the best dog I have ever had.  Sweet, playful, very affectionate, never barks (only if someone comes to the door), great with kids, doesn't shed - truly the most amazing dog and I have only had big dogs in the past.

Yorkies are often mixed with Poodles and these dogs are called Yorkie Poos.  Yorkie Poos give the best of Yorkies and Poodles (i.e., they are more sturdy than fragile Yorkie and don't have as many health issues that come with mini size).  Yorkie Poos don't shed, are very intelligent, and have great temperament.  I have a Yorkie Poo who is absolutely adorable.  He weights 8 lbs.  and is a lot of fun.  I highly recommend Yorkie Poos because they are active and cute!

We just became proud parent of a little boy yorkie/maltese mix. He is now 4 months old, and has a little growl, doesn't bark - just a growl when he is play with his ball or teddy. We also have a 16 year old Poodle mix that has our new boy 95% potty trained. And a 9 year old Yorkie/chi Mix - she is a joy. My family has AKC registed doggie companions, which are also wonderful, but when we are walking down the street my mixes get all the attention - I guess that's why they don't need to bark to get attention - have to say that the yorkie/maltese mix so far is very smart, and has a very easy going nature...what a surprise in such a small package.  God Bless.

I have a 1 1/2 year old Yorkie Poo - his name is Scrappy and like the others have said he is the cutest, sweetest little thing.  I adopted him before I ever even saw him or knew what a Yorkie Poo was - he needed a home and that was that.  But, I couldn't have gotten luckier.  People do stop me everywhere and ask what he is and he's the King of my neighborhood.  Everyone loves him!

I have a Yorkie-Poo, he'll be 11 in October. He is a wonderful dog. He is smart, well behaved and cute as a button. He weighs 5 lbs and I get stopped all the time by people wanting to know what kind of dog he is. I also have many friends who have offered to take him if anything happened to me. He has turned many a big dog lovers into "yorkie-poo" lovers. He's the best!!!

I love my yorkie-poo, she is the smartest dog I have owned. I have to disagree with the comment above, it is not mutt, it is a mixed breed, and the yorkie poo is a great one. Non shedding, smart, great with kids, and very loving and playful. There is so much inbreeding with pure breeds, the mixed breeds are also much healthier. I think a yorkie poo is a great choice as long as it is from a good breeder.

I always thought my poodle was the smartest dog ever ... my husband used to say that he could leave Puppy a note!  I still haven't changed my mind about that, but I recently adopted a border collie from our local shelter, and is she ever smart!  It amazes me as to how this wonderful pup could have ended up there ...

I think breeding your yorkie with a new breed is a great ideal.. Purebreds are prone to be sicker than Mixted dogs. I think you should mix it with a Maltese, a Morkie is SO cute :)

I am  looking possibly into a yorkie-poo, malti-poo, or yorkie-maltese...haha i don't really know yet, but my family has allergies so i would probably need a hypoallergenic dog. Poodles sound like great pets, but i also love yorkies and the look of yorkie-poos a lot. I know, that's a bad reason to buy a dog, just cause of looks, but poodles and yorkies sound like great little dogs!
