well, your dog seemed to have gotten to possisive over your mom or does not like being picked up. You should not have your mom have her on her lap

The Dog seems to be attatched to your mother. Does it also act aggresive towards her? Usually a dog respects a person to whom it is attached, but not allways. Try having your mother repremand the dog for such actions. Your  dog may learn the rules easier from the person it likes, as well as keeping you out of the situation. The dog will not resent you, but rather learn that dogs simply do not do such agressive things. Either way if you took the dog to obedience class it would allow you to sort out your problems under the eye of a professional keeping both you and the dog safe and ultimatly happier.

Get Cesar Milan's dog video.  It helps to understand and correct problems like these.  I had to watch the entire first season before I learned what to do. I had a mean chihuahua who now bows her head when I get near and I didn't have to spank her or anything.  I was going to euthanize her but now I understand her and although she is not perfect, she knows there are limits and will not bite.
