Background Info:

I ( Balaji Rajagopalan ) am working with CTS (Cognizant Technology Solutions), and  have been here in the US for the past 2 months ( since Oct 3 2003) on an L1 Visa.
My wife Jayashree and son Keshav Krishna are here with me on a dependant visa.

My visa is getting expired as of Dec 11 2003 and my I94 is getting expired as of Dec 21 2003. An extension for my L1 has been filed through my company.

My sister-in-law’s marriage is coming up in Feb 2004. We as a family would like to attend the marriage.

Subsequently my wife needs to stay there in India for her mother’s operation for a month or so…

Queries related to L1 Extension:

·   How long does it usually take for a normal L1 extension to come through?

·   How long does it usually take for the stamping to come through once the L1 extension is through ?

·   Is it OK to leave the US while the visa extension is applied?

·   If the Visa extension comes through before Feb, is it possible for us to go to India, attend the marriage, get our stamping done there and then come back to the US?

·   If I cannot leave the US while the Visa extension is applied, can my wife and kid at least leave before the Visa comes through?

If so, while I wait here for getting the Visa, can they leave to India and once I get the visa, can I go for the stamping to India and get my family’s stamping done too and come back…maybe they could join me here later?

·   Apart from applying for a Premium Visa, Is it possible to make the Visa processing to be done a bit faster? How?
