I have a very important question about my hedgehog.  Over the past few weeks, my hedgehog has become resistant to me, almost to the point where it looks like he dosen'teven like me anymore.  I try to play with him as often as I possibly can, but I'm 15 years old and I do attend school so I have have to be in bed at around 10.  Sometimes when my hedgehog is running on his wheel early, I try to pick him up but he puts up his spines in defense and hides under his wheel.  My question is, why is my hedgehog showing behavior that, up to this point, has been unatural, and how can I get my friend to become more open to me again?

chris, your answer is simple, don't try to pick your hh up when he is running in his wheel.  the is his play time.  pick him up when he has totally finished eating or when he is napping and unprepared for it.  Most importantly DO NOT BE SCARED.  don't jump or flinch or make loud noises, they don't like this, as they are very senstive to sound vibrations. If you sit and watch your pet for a few hours a day and talk to him so he knows the sound of your voice, he will become more socialized.  Patience and time are necessary in having a trusting relationship with your pet.

Surfy,
See above message and remember that your pet is a living creature and must be respected as an individual being.  If you give them enough space they can run really fast.

You need to get your hedgehog a girl dude.  He just is sad because he doesn't have a partner to love.  Shape up dude, and get him a girl for instant results.
