A tool used to track the defect/issues/concerns logged by tester. This is very much required in any testing environment.Some common features of any bug tracking tool allow you to priortize the defects ,keep track of bug status (like open/close/verified) ,date logged etc..

This is also a Software Application that helps the Test team in end-to-end Defect Life Cycle Management. The advantage of this tool is that all the stake holders of the Testing Project can keep track of the latest Status of all the Bugs logged in by the Test team.
Also, it will be help in the following:

1. Defect Categorization based on Priority, Severity.

2. Generating a variety of Bug reports such as Daily & Weekly and also Application wise and Module wise Bug lists.

3. Also the tool can be configured for sending automated mail messages to all the concerned people whenever a Bug is logged in the tool and change occurs to the same.

4. Some tools have more features such as generating Graphical reports based on the Bug Data.

It is used to track defects or bugs.
winrunner is a good example for bug tracking tool.

A Bug Tracking tool is a systematic way of analyzing a bug,maintaining the status and the history of that of that bug.

Bug Tracking is Nothing but Track a bug when it occurs.when we are testing any kind applications bug can be find by the QA/TEST people,These kinds of bugs we can be keep in one place can also called as repository.And also is possible maintain versions,it means while developing application modifications or changes are common,so when ever we do the changes in application we should be able to know the Difference between the Previous version of application and Present version of application,this can be possible by the Bug tracking tools ,then we will know the status of application how many changes have done ,and how many times application has been modified,and also possible to maintain previlizes to users,it means For administrator we can make provision for "read/write",if he is normal user or team member just "Read" Permession.and to maintain source code,and Tester job is Maintain the documents like requirement specifications(SRS),Functional specifications(FRS),because these are very much repetable while developing application or testing applications untill deliver the product..so all these things can be stored in one place and giving access to selected people/authorised people.
Eg for bug tracking tools are VSS,CVS,SCCS,PVCS..Etc.

Basically its a Bug tracking, Reporting tools. TEST DIRECTOR is best example for this.

a bugtracking tool is nothing but a tool which is used to send a "BUG REPORT" to the developer. for eg: test director is also used as a bugtracking tool.

and also according to our company we will design our own bugtracking tool by using MS-ACCESS.

The defect tracking tool is used for tracking the defects.TestDirector is the defect tracking tool and it is also used for creating the test cases for manual and automation testing,we can run them to find the defects and  we can report to the developers.

A Bug - Tracking tool is a tool which keeps track of the details of all the issues or defects found by a tester during the software testing process.  
   The details include the severity of the bug, priority of bug, date and time, the person whom it is assigned to, status of the bug (open, closed, deferred, re-open etc), steps to reproduce and screenshots if necessary etc.  Some bug tracking tools also provide a facility of automatically sending the bug report through email to the concerned developer.

No winrunner is not bug tracking tool, We have different tools for reporting bugs
1.Testdirector by mercury Interactive
2.Rational Clear Quest by IBM rational suite
3.QMS(Quality Management System)

Bug tracker is used to log a defect/issue/bug the time a tester find while testing an application.
It can be used by all the testers to log their defects.
And the most essential use of this tool is to keep track of the defect till it got closed.

WINRUNNER IS NOT A BUGTRACKING TOOLS ITS A AUTOMATION TESTING TOOL. TEST DIRECTOR IS THE BUG TRACKING TOOL FOR WINRUNNER. TEST DIRECTOR HAS A EFFICIENCY TO REMOVE THE BUGS FOUND IN THE SCRIPT TSL (TEST SCRIPT LANGUAGE IN WINRUNNER) THANKYOU FOR GIVENING THIS OPPORTUNITY.
