I just asked a lady I work with.  She's a "swallowing specialist."  [Insert joke here.]

The pain on swallowing due to bolus impaction is called "odynophagia."

("Bolus," is food and saliva, and "impaction" means "got stuck.")

It can be painful (like a heart attack), but just stay calm, keep breathing, and don't drink anything.  Only tiny, tiny, tiny sips of water.  It will pass, and then you should eat smaller bits for a few days.
