18 on your own (in most states), or 16 with parental consent and their attendance of the tattoo session.

i am goin down to texas and i mite get a tattoo. of course im only 13. but my friend down there has older friends and has uh..how to put it...we have older friends who have older friends who can get us in...i am gonna get a heart with tlc&h in side it. that stand for trust,love,care,& happiness. the main things i want in a relationship.so wish me luck that i get it! thanks

I think you should be 13 to get a tattoo because it is your own body and if you fell like your ready  for one or more nobody else should care . I want to get a tattoo but the law says i have to be 18 to get one i was going to try to go against what they said . My mother got hers when she was 14 with her friend so it is not fair to use people who wants tattoos .

I know that you have to be 18 to get a tattoo. Can you get a tattoo if your parents sign a permission slip? And do they have to be present? (I want to fake my Mom's signature, and go get a tattoo without her knowing) Cuz I don't wanna wait the 2 1/2 years until I'm legally old enough and my parents will let me. Also, does anyone know of any places around New Hampshire/ Mass where they do tattoos to minors(which is of course illegal...)? thanks!

I just got a tattoo the other day and I'm 16!! A parent had to go with me...but I'mtelling you now...if you don't like pain, don't do it!! It hurts so bad..and you have to leave a bandage over it because it bleeds for a little while...if you want it..atleast be 16!!!

You shouldn't get a tattoo until you are 16 because there are certin lines in your body that are not finished growing until you are 16 and the tattoo will end up looking like a blodge!!!!!!!

If you feel that getting a tattoo at thirteen is right, then go ahead. Even though I'll be eighteen in a couple months, i will be getting tattoos left and right, but to those who are really under age, make sure that you make the right decision and not just because you THINK it's cool.

13 is too young.  17-18 is fine.  if i got a tattoo at 13 it would probably be of a pokemon, and i would have to kill myself.

I think people should be able to get a tattoo if they want it..Mostly, you have to be committed and really want it! You should think it over and make the decision for yourself!! If nobody likes it, tough! Just tell them to back off and let you make your own mistake or whatever.. That's my opinion. I'm only 14 years old and really want a tattoo!!! BAD! I dunno yet, but I'm hoping to get one this summer!

ok well 13 is way to young to have a tattoo they wouldnt make it through the session trust me i dont know of one 13 year old who could get a tattoo its not the most pleasant thing in the world i think they should change the age limit from 18 to 16

well i think its fine at 18 and the reason it is 18 is for lawsuite issues im sure if i had a 13 year old kid and he came home with some gay heart on his shoulder ide go down to the tatto parlor and kick some major ass

I agree with you. But what if you have some medical history that you don't know have and that counter acts with the material used to make to ink. But where I live you have to be 18 like in most places. My mom wants one and would probably sing the form. But again in most places you are not concered a adult until you turn 18. Which isn't so bad because we don't have to vote for the political jackasses until then.

i think that if u are a teenager than u should be able to get a tattoo because like somebody elese said it is ur own body if u wanna mark it than its your problem. i am 13 an my cousin does tattoos for a living she told me for 13th bday that i could get one on my hip. i am so nervous and excited at the same time. so wish me luck!!
