MY PUPPY IS BETWEEN FOUR TO SIX MONTHS, IS IT POSSIBLE THAT SHE IS PREGNANT?  WE ONLY HAVE FEMALE DOGS IN THE AREA, BUT WE COME ACROSS A DOG IN OUR COUNTRY TYPE NEIGHBORHOOD NOW AND THEN THAT ARE NOT LOCALS, NOT EVEN SURE THAT THEY TOO ARE NOT FEMALES.  BUT HOW DO WE KNOW WHEN SHE WILL GO IN HEAT?  SHE IS A BEAGLE, FULL BLOOD.  WE GOT HER IN THE EARLY PART OF AUGUST AND AT TIME SHE WAS FIVE WEEKS OLD.

You will know when you're dog is able to have puppies when her period comes on just like a women periods come on so just check every day.  But if it has already happened I don't know what to tell you.

Dog "periods" are just "heats". They can go into heat as young as 4 months but that is waaaaaay too young for them to have pups!! Their "period" comes about every 6 months although some are as soon as every 4 months or as long as every 10 months. Signs of heat are swelling of the vulva and vaginal bleeding. If you see these signs and do not want her to get pregnant keep her COMPLETELY away from any of males. It only takes on time! The males don't always have to come to her. She may go to find them too. Please consider spraying her!

Although your dog could go into heat at the age of 4 months it isn't the time to have puppies.  It's unhealthy for the mother and puppies let alone the mother is still a puppy!!
   Bye good luck*****************

Typically a chihuahua goes into heat at 7 months of age, any younger than that is rare. Not unheard of but not as common. You want to miss the first heat to allow her body to go through the change. Also, they can go into heat up to 3 weeks. It can be days and it can be along time. Good luck to all!
