Yes they do. They can reflect self expression and they can even honor something (someone's life, death, success, or struggles, for example).

piercings have a different meaning to everyone. for me it's beauty and it's to look different from the rest of society and also i like pain.

A piercing is who you are. It reflects on the thing's you like. Goth is a title your dumbass parents put on kids like me " because i wear black and i have multiple piercings" thats a label. The last time I thought about it was Im a 16 year old girl and my name is Aleshia not "goth". I am who I am and I express it in a way that I like no matter what people think!

I agree with metal Kitten. Actually i was on this topic yoday with a friend talking about it. Some peircings have history behind them for ex. some time when a woman or man had a peircing back in the day it meant that they were owned..(slavery) and now like when were born how we have one on each side thats because back then they thought that it would make the woman be more attractive and honor their beauty..etc..and peircings now -like i just got the ear project(??)- that punk rockers wear, u gotta b careful cause alot of them mean for pain..and have satanic meanings behind them like for worship etc..so u gotta b careful..i got mine because i thoguht it was coOl and because alot of ppl DIDNT have it.hope this helps.

of course piercing have meanings. because since the sixties many teenagers pierced their body, just to say that they are independent and that they can decide, and only them what to do with their own bodies...

Piercings do have many different meanings... I'm been piercing people for years.. For example a septom piercing is a piercing that a warrior would get..

As far I'm concerned there is meaning to where you pierce because usually you would do it in a complimentary part...some don't suite a piercing on nose but do on eyebrow...some get piercings because the have a deformaty like....invertided nipples.....also it is a form of pain controll...xo

The first records of navel piercing stretch as far back as the ancient civilisations of Egypt. Then it was only the Pharos and their Royal families who were permitted to pierce their navels. Peasants who broke this rule were executed! However, if a peasant girl was born with 'The perfect belly button' she was sometimes permitted to have it pierced, and therefore to elevate her social standing. The navel is now one of the most popular piercings.
Every single piercing, even those on "below the belt" have specific meaning.

i think the piercings are there and have a meaning if you want them to i have my tongue pierced and my nose the reson i wanted my nose done was to be diffrent i did that my self and my tongue me and my boyfriend where taking and we both agreed that it was kool so he got his eye brow done and i got my tounge we both got it on my sweet 16 this december 29th!
and maybe some people want them to rebel so yea some have a meaning but the ears no i dont think they do unless toy strech them maybe to make a fashion state ment to be diffrent .. or even to fit in .. but some people think thatkeep the body that god gave you! .. well thats some peoples oppion ...  k g2g bye

Yes, actually most piercings DO HAVE MEANINGS, but people who choose not to look deeply into piercing, and the people who just get them for looks mostly don't know them. The naval piercing has been rumored to originate in the ancient Egyptian culture and was a symbol of beauty and wealth. But that obviously does not relate to modern culture.

Yes piercings have a meaning and no piercings do not mean you are a slut, but yes they can be used for sexual pleasures or for a symbolic reason...but other than that piercings are for whatever you make them to be!!...dont listen to what other people have to say about them you make your own definition for it.

Piercings do have meanings. Each piercing means something else throughout the world. They arent just there for the hell of it. Nothing is.

No piercings dont have meaning and they dont make you look like a slut put there is also the limit of piercing to much piercing makes the person look really bad and with just a couple like 2 in each ear and a belly piercing wont mean nothing piercing make people stand out in some way like for girls it will look pretty a belly piercing but you must always keep in mind to be careful bout too much piercing cus it can get infected and also the person that does your piercing has to take a new needle because the needle could have hiv or aids that they use on another person

Yes they do. Many cultures for centuries have been doing tattoos, piercings and scaring for different meanings, such as becoming an adult, royalty, trademarks of different tribes, growth, and even fertility.

yes they do actually as a matter of fact,
they pretty much let people know on who
you are. Not all of them, some are actually
quite lovely as a matter of fact. but some
are quite not, such as the labreette, minroe,
and many more, mean ur a slut and u like
to give head and all thatjunk that be in the

in egypt the meaning of a belly piercing was was royalty anyone other than that who had a belly piercing would be put to death.
