How old do you have to be to legally get tattoos and piercings in Canada? I heard you can at 16, but is that with or w/o parents consent?

16 without consent for peircings, 18 for tattoo's (you have to be an "adult"). but this is likely to change. :)

Hi, ^ I have heard that you only have to be 16 for piercing yet live in Ontario Canada and have not found a place yet that will do it for 17 years olds without consent, do you know of anywhere, Kingston, Toronto, Ottawa area that would be great...thanks

i think you can what ever age to get pierced only if your with a parent and if your you want a tatto you have to be 18 or 16 and older to get one in canada !!!!

You can get a piercing on your lower ear at any age with a parent or guardian present. For a tatoo, no idea.

i think you have to be at least 18 to get one by yourself and 16 with a parent.

in oshawa u can get pierced at wild ink at 16 w/o parent consent..not in kingston or ottawa but meh

My daughter is almost thirteen and I took her to have her nose pierced and the guy wouldn't do it. Legally for him to do her face she has to be 14 with parent consent, 16 without. Kinda stupid since I gave my okay for her to have it done but rules are rules I guess. He can lose his license if he did it.

You have to be 16 to get a piercing in Canada but I'm not sure how old to get a tattoo. I saw on the news a girl in Nova Scotia who was 14 got a tattoo without concent and they knew she was 14. You only have to only be 14 in Nova Scotia

you have to be 16 to get piercings in calgary and 18 to get tattoos unless you have consent, than u can be any age i got a tatto on my back and im only 13 as of like 3 days ago =)

You can get a piercing here in alberta at 16 with out your perants consent. But I am not shur about tattoos

If you are 16 years of age you are able to get a tattoo if you have parental permission (18 years of age without. Those of you looking for places that will perform these services illegally I would like to remind you that if they do it without permission from your parents then they are probably not as professional and may not do everything in their power to prevent the transmission of STI's Std's infections and other blood based diseases. Make sure the parlor is clean and although tattoos say "i take risks" don't take a risk with serious std's(including Aids) that u can end up transferring yourself
