Angie, what are you feeding your pup and when she eats does she GULP down her food?  Are the hiccups happening at different times or can you pinpoint a specific occurrence that might be triggering this?

Not all hiccups are harmless, however, not all hiccups are something to worry about either!  :o)

Just keep an eye out for discomfort, distention in the belly or loose stools.

Then a vet check might be in order.

Good luck with your girl

If your dog is an adult, and seems to be getting quite thin and scrawny then hiccups could be a sign of worms. It is however common and usually  not harmful in pups. If your dog seems sick and unhappy then be worried if not then it'll be fine. Just listen to your dogs and they'll tell you!! You just somehow know. Good luck to all you other dog lovers.

I JUST GOT A 8 WEEK OLD ROTTWEILER PUPPY. SHE HAS BEEN WITH ME FOR ALMOST A WEEK NOW AND FROM DAY ONE SHE HAS HAD LOOSE STOOLS. SHE PASSED A WORM THE SAME DAY I GOT HER AND I GAVE HER A HART WARM PILL. SHE PASSED ANOTHER WORM LATE THAT EVENING AND NO MORE THAT I NOTICED AFTER THAT. BUT, HER STOOLS ARE STILL LOOSE AND TODAY SHE WAS GIVEN HER 9 WEEKS SHOT AND A LIQUID WARMER. ALSO, I NEED TO ADD THAT SHE HAS BEEN GIVEN 3 DIFFERENT KINDS OF FOOD SINCE I HAVE HAD HER. ONLY BECAUSE THE DAY THAT I GOT HER I WASN'T TOLD THAT SHE WAS BEING FED EUKANUBA SO I GOT HER SOME PUPPY CHOW. THEN, ONCE I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE EUKANUBA I THEN MIXED IT WITH THE PUPPY CHOW. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS I NOTICED THAT SHE WASN'T EATING THAT GOOD ANYMORE THEN I GOT HER A CAN OF PEDIGREE AND SHE ALMOST ATE THE MAJORITY OF THE CAN. BUT, NOW SHE HAS LIKE A REAL BAD CASE OF DIARREAH. I HAVE BEEN UP WITH HER ALL NIGHT SHE SLEEPS AND EVERY TIME SHE STANDS UP I TAKE HER OUTSIDE AND SHE JUST LETS GOT. CAN YOU OFFER ME SOME ADVISE BECAUSE I WANT TO DO WHATS RIGHT FOR MY ROTTIE (TEMPUR).PLEASE ADVISE....CARRIECOCROFT@BELZONICABLE.COM

My puppy is only 4 weeks old and he get the hiccups about 4 times daily.  I notice he gets them when playing in full speed and playing hard.  My neighbor used to raise Rottweilers and told me it is normal for puppies.  Does anyone know what causes them?
