Why do I find the so-called "Help" section filled with words and expressions which confuse me?

Yes, I have checked out Netscape 7.1 Help! However, I am retired and all I want to do is  some basic basic writing and searching for information--word processing. I do not need   all that technical stuff to wade through before I can do some simple task. For example, how do I put my signature on my e-mails without having to do it every time?

Is there, on the Web, a dictionary of some kind giving me the meaning of words like MIME type, cookie, Instant Messenger, plug-ins, etc., and the many acronyms, for example 'rpnp.so', swf, spl and the like?

I would also like to know what functions things like, for example, Instant Messenger will do for me.

Of what use would it be to me to create a 'new account'? And what do you mean by 'password'? Am I supposed to have a password to use this system?
