I have Call Alert on AOL and would like to know how to change the amount of time a have to talk to someone, without that person be hung up on.

How can I change my default settings to answer a call on my aol call alert. It tells them to call back later. On my preferences there is no option to change it?

iv been having problems with call alert aol for whatever reason the telephone company cannot incorporate call alert to make it work i haven't use this feature since the summer and still i'm being billed the 3.99 a month i have been going back and forth with the tel phone comp. and i have had it if u look in your records i haven't use this feature in months i would like a refund please

My question is: I now have AOL Call Alert and I called the phone number and it asked me to dial my pin number and press pound. I was not given a pin number and I need to know what it is. Can you please e-mail me at Scoobymaynard@aol.com with my pin? Thank you.

We have AOL call alert, it was working OK until a couple of days ago, all of a sudden it stopped without us doing anything for that to happen.  How can we enable it again?

You only have 3 minutes to talk b/c its re-routed back on the AOL server, its not connected back on the phone line. The server needs to allow enough time for everyone to talk.

If you sign up for AOL alert and don't cancel you will get charged!!!
If you make any changes to your telephone account or to your computer this may cause call alert to stop working
To change your default you need to go to Keyword: type AOL Call Alert, and then preferences, and change to whatever option you want.
When a call comes in and you want to answer the call you must click on answer, then a new pop-up window will appear and you need to click yes to disconnect from the net, then WAIT for your phone to ring (do not pick up before it rings) and then when it does answer the call.
Scooby, do you have AOL Voice-mail????

I want to take call alert off of my bill.  I have not been able to connect it since I had it turned on and have been billed since the beginning of the summer.   Please take it off my bill.  I haven't used it once!!!!

meagain46, do you have AOL Voicemail?? If you do, and want to change the rings before you want aol voicemail to pick then you would need to call you telephone company and tell them you want to change the rings on the call forward no answer feature. If you don't know your pin# then you will need to go to keyword: aol voicemail, and select change pin#.
greeneyedlady1964, did you move and have a new telephone number now? if so then you will need to call 1-866-265-4415, and tell them you have moved and have a new telephone number.
katie barnhart, you need call waiting disabled on the computer for call alert to work. If you need help disabling the call waiting call 1-877-742-9546.

If you have signed up for AOL Call Alert, and do not want it, then you do need to cancel or YOU will get charged. So you will need to call 1-866-265-4415, if you want to cancel. If you need help if its not working then you need to dial 1-877-742-9546. IN order for call alert to work you need to have call forward busy or call forwarding added to your line. Without these features call alert will not work. And if your signed up for it, and its not working THAT does not mean you won't get billed for it!!!!! IF you don't know what call forward busy or call forwarding. call 1-877-742-9546, they are the call alert help desk, they help you set-up call alert or aol voicemail

well i believe that cant be done. i am pretty sure it cant be transferred. but still i would say talk to your local AOL company and your telephone company....both should be contacted.

aol and call alert are terrible and I was constantly getting disconnected and it takes 20 minutes on the phone just to cancel. Dont take their sales pitch, just demand to cancel. 1-888-265-8008 or 1-888-265-4415.

don't u ppl read any of the stuff I have written???
Peggy if you want call alert on another number you need to call aol and let them know the correct number. call 1-866-265-4415.
If you need help setting up your call alert, or if its not working, call 1-877-742-9546 ( it is a toll-free#)
If you changed telephone companies then the call alert will stop working, then you will need to add on call forward busy with them, and they need to have the number routed to 1-866-629-4265, or you can call 1-877-742-9546 for help.
If you want to cancel call alert you need to call 1-866-265-4415, the busiest day is Monday's.
George your email means that call alert is set-up on aol ends but that does not mean it is set-up through the phone company, if your phone company is VERIZON, QWEST, SBC (formaly pac bell, ameritech, southwestern bell, nevada bell, SNET)or AT&T (just call alert) then that will take 7-10 days to process, if you put in the exact billing name/address on the call alert order, and if you have no restrictions on your line. If your phone company is not one of these then you need to add call forward busy/call forward no answer to your phone line, depending on if its for call alert or aol voice-mail.

Suecee2004- the # for call alert is 1-866-629-4265, if you have aol voicemail it is 1-866-880-9376.
LIDAMALO-when your on the net, and someone calls you what do they hear? if they get a busy signal, thats means that your telephone company has not provisioned the call forward busy properly, if callers are getting a constant ringing then call waiting is not disabled properly, if callers are getting a recording then you either have voicemail with your telco (which does not work with call alert) or your telco does not have the correct forwarding number, or your lined is not provisioned properly. You could call your telco yourself or call the provisioning help dsk and they would do a conference call with your telco. their number is 1-877-742-9546

i have the same issue as Diana i have had AOL call alert and ever since i switched to a different phone company it hasn't been working i have been missing calls. And i want my refund also from AOL call alert!!! i am not going to be charged for a something that is not working.

When you switch telephone companies call alert will stop working, b/c you do not have call forward busy on your line anymore. AOL cannot tell if you switch your telephone company! If you want it working call them.

I DO NOT want the AOL Voice-mail Service for one more minute.  I ONLY want to KEEP your AOL Call Alert (just like I originally ordered and had you guys set it up)
Then I f0found out it can be used with my NEW Company Phone, which has a built in digital answering machine, sooooooooo. "PLEASE CANCEL" the AOL VOICEMAIL SERVICE immediately
AND DO NOT Cancel the AOL CALL ALERT !!!
Thank you from a 10+ years customer of AOL.

Ok if you want to cancel call alert you must call 1-866-265-4415, you need to listen to all prompts then when it says " to repeat this msg press the # key" then press option 1 for call alert/ 2 for aol by phone/3 for aol voice mail.  then follow the options. AOL has this new thing set-up if you sign up then 15days later the billing cycle starts if you have the free months then you get that, but if you dont have that then you'lllstart getting billed, this is b/c alot of ppl sign up then dont call and set it up, and aol wants to know who is using the svs and if they arent, they want them to start using it. You call a toll-free number, why wouldhave to pay if you calling a toll free number?!????

OK HERE GOES... I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO DISSCONNECT THIS AOL CALL ALERT AND VOICE MAIL THING FOR A LONG TIME NOW. AND IT HAVENT WORKED.. IM NEVER EVEN ON AOL... I need to know if you can cancel your aol call alert on the computer...? because I got it because every time I got on-line the internet would always kick me off because someone was calling (call waiting) and I figured out a way to disable call waiting but I did it after I got call alert so I need help PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE E-MAIL ME: CUBANCHULA90@AOL.COM PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!! I would like to try aol call alert for 30 days if it does not work as promised then I will do without until another method comes along or technology improves. I signed up in July and was confirmed it is on so where is it? my phone rings as though no one is home. Help!

Although I've got to say ... sounds like the whole AOL call alert thing is a bust.  If I were AOL I'd seriously reconsider this thing.  I see 400 complaints, and not a single person (except you) sticking up for it praising its glories.  400 people can't be wrong.  Sounds like there's some real issues that need to be worked out!

Hey if you have aol call alert and it is not working you, and you have call waiting, that can effect the way that aol call alert works. when the aol sign on screen comes up click the button right next to sign on. you need to go to the part that shows you the number that is dialed to make your connection and hit edit number. Then choose the button more options and put a check mark next to the *70, what this does is it disables your call waiting only while you are online so that the call are are directly sent to your computer. This should solve most problems.

I want to cancel, Call Alert. I certainly hope and pray the negative comments I have read on this subject, are simply isolated mistakes. I'v been with AOL. 6 yrs, and in the past 2 or so, have been so "ENRAGED" trying to get help from Tech Support.  The fact they can't speak very understandable English, wst so bad, or it took SOOOO long to answer my Q, but lately, they jibber jabber, asking  the same Q 2 or 3 times, but after 30 min, tell you, u must call someone else!!!, and politely! kiss you off. I can get that with a K=mart subscription, but its FREE!! To close, I hope Aol hasn't stuped so low as to use those sleazy Put=Off tactics, just to be able to wait long enough to CHARGE your account, then take 3 months and 50 emails, to give it back. Aol, used to be a Class-Act. Lately, I'm thinking Netscape, or similar cheaper company. I'll let U know how it goes!?

I got my cell phone number (646 515 2203) at the beginning of this month at T-mobile. From then on, I got the weather report by text message every weekday. It is for sure that I did not register on AOL for the alert service. It would be requested by the former number holder, but not canceled while he or she close the number. I thought I had Call Alert but I don't get any notification on my screen when people are calling me.  With my "old" Call Alert I used to get a message box on my screen and I could opt to ignore or take the call.  Can you please help me as I do not want to be billed extra for a service that does not work.  Thank you.

I really wish you would change the time alotment allowed when you answer a call.  If I answer the call I want to talk to the person without going to the trouble of calling them back.  Can this be changed?????

IVE BEEN PAYING FOR CALL ALERT SINCE SEPT 05
I MOVED AND CAN NOT GET IT HERE,BUT ITS STILL ON MY CREDIT CARD. I WANT IT TAKEN OFF
UNTIL THIS PHONE CO OFFERS IT

I have been paying for CallAlert for a year, but it has never worked since I got my new phone.  I have tried unsuccessfully to get an satisfaction from AOL, but finally gave up.  When someone calls me and I'm on the computer all they get is a busy signal.  How do I cancel Callalert?

Please Cancel any or all Call Alerts on my phone.  I am unable to access any messages that have been left on my service.  So please cancel it.
Your immediate attention to this matter will greatly be appreciated.

I have changed telephone company to SAGE from AT & T Both of them tell me AOL has to reactivate through an '800' number and this has been 5 days ago

I too am experiencing extreme difficulty using AOL call alert. It seems that most of the users on this site are as well. Why can't this problem be solved? I use a dial up modem and have only one line. I spend a great deal of time on my computer and NEED call intact and working properly! I have discussed this situation with both AOL and my telephone service provider numerous times to no avail. I am being charged then reimbursed for the lack of this service option. This does not solve my problem and quite frankly does little to pacify me any more. I am desperate! I really enjoy my AOL service but the importance of having call alert has me shopping for another Internet service provider. Must I be forced into such a drastic and undesired option?

I had a sub account that had call alert feature, that account was cancelled and I have a new AOL account, same phone# for both, when I th AOL!! Unbelievable!

To cancel AOL Call Alert, call 10866-770-9450. When prompted, choose the Premium Service Option. Then choose "cancel." They'll send you to a customer service rep who will immediately have it removed from your service.

I would like to cancel the Call Alert that has been put on my phone line. I did not order this and I do not need this at all. I have been having a very hard time trying to get ahold of someone to cancel this. I would appreciate it if you can take care of that for me or you can tell me what I have to do to stop this immediately. I do not want to pay for charges that I did not ask for. Please have this removed from my computer ASAP. I have call alert  and it does not work. I would like to know why. I am getting charged 4.95 a month and it has never worked. I think it is supposed to let me know if someone is calling . Is this corret? If so can someone tell me how to get it to work. Thank you

I purchased AOL Call Alert in Nov. 2006.  It worked fine until Bell South and AT&T merged. I started having troubles and made call after call, finally someone said it was the telephone company's problem, they three-way-called and we all talked.  The telephone co. said it would be fixed by midnight.  That was in January and i still don't have Call Alert and have missed several VERY IMPORTANT calls while on the computer because of it.  I had such a long hard task of trying to get help before, I don't have the nerve to try to find the number again and go through it all again.  What can i do.?
Tell me who to call to correct the problem.  I realize I am paying a monthly fee for a "non service".

This area is answered by users. Please recognize the difference between what you should be telling AOL and what people with the service can tell you. They cannot cancel your account or switch the numbers, they can only tell you how to do it. And perhaps by all the angry messages the call alert is not worth it.

I use to use an answer machine on my phone and now have changed to voice mail thru the phone company and I need to know how to make call alert come on my computer now, it does not show up and tell me I have a call coming in.
