Cyclones can be bigger than hurricaines, though I am not sure the exact differences. Jesh seems to be talking about tornados. Typhoons are hurricaines in the southern hemisphere, they rotate a different way, clockwise.

Cyclones, hurricanes, and typhoons are all the same! All must have the same environment to develop and grow. The only difference between them is the ocean where they form-
Cyclones form in the Indian Ocean and near Australia in the South Pacific.
Hurricanes form in the Atlantic and East Pacific Oceans.
Typhoons form in the West Pacific Ocean.
They are all different names for the same kind of storm.

The difference between tornados and hurricanes and cyclones is that tornados tend to cover much smaller areas and occur inland.

Cyclones occur when there is an area of low pressure surrounded by areas of higher pressure. The coriolis effect causes the air to drift sideways which makes it circulate in an anticlockwise direction in the northern hemisphere and a clockwise direction in the southern hemisphere. The cyclone will rotate around the area of low pressure.

Cyclones are known to bring rain and snow. This could be as a result of their origins at the poles, which provide icy winds to fuel the cyclone. Cyclones can affect an area up to 500 miles.

Hurricanes are tropical cyclones that can reach a speed of about 74 miles per hour lasting 1-30 days. The term hurricane is normally used for storms that occur over the North Atlantic Ocean while the term typhoon is used for those occurring over the West Pacific Ocean. In Australia these storms are called willy-willy.

Hurricanes don't last over land because they are fueled by condensation, which they get from the ocean. When they begin to move onto the land they can produce tornados and other forms of severe weather. Hurricanes produce winds of over 74mph and are classified according to their severity by the Saffir-Simpson scale.

Hurricanes and cyclones are more likely to affect coastal areas than inland. They form in the tropics in summer and in the United States there is a hurricane season, usually between April and June. The safety measures are the same. Hurricanes weaken with height and the inside of the funnel is warmer than the outside and is pulled downward.

tropical storms are usually smaller, and do less damage. tropical storms can sometimes turen into hurricanes. the diffrence is a tropical storm is less violent, not as big, as a hurricane, but a tropical storm can be called a baby hurricane.

Taken from FEMA.GOV  CYCLONE: An atmospheric m. circulation (low-pressure system) with rotating and converging winds, in which the center has a relative pressure minimum. It usually has a diameter of 2000 to 3000 kilometers. When developing, a cyclone typically consists of a warm front pushing northward and a cold front pushing southward with the center of low pressure (cyclone center) located at the junction of the two fronts. Cyclones in the Northern Hemisphere rotate counter-clockwise while Southern Hemisphere cyclones rotate clockwise.

They are the same.... Depends on your geographical location...

Atlantic and Gulf Coast are -Hurricanes
Pacific and Hawaii - Cyclones...
East Indian and Asia are Typhoons

These may not be completely accurate.
Also- Tornadoes are also Winds Storms, except
that they start on land.

Both a hurricane and a typhoon are tropical cyclones.  The only difference between them is that a hurricane originates in the Atlantic Ocean or Caribbean Sea , and a typhoon originates in the western Pacific or Indian oceans.
