Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of
using lay magistrates as members of the public(juries). Or Distinguish between a lay magistrate and a professional magistrate the advantages and disadvantages.

Why are Juries called Juries? And how old do you have to be to join the juries?

to be called upon for jury service you have to be 18, you can be called up at any time, this is due to the juries act 1984.
