That's a Greek dessert. So yeah, Greece

most Mediterranean countries e.g. Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Jordan, Greece and may be Turkey

Haven't you ever been to greek town that food is all over there so I'd have to say Greece

Recently I found that also in Near East Asia Baklava is a known desert. It appears to be less sweeter than the Turkish or Greek variety and does not have as much syrup.
