How do I print \n to output, as opposed to using it for a new line?

To actually print a backslash to the screen you use two backslashes. So if you want it to come out on the screen looking like
\n
you use printf("\\n");
and if you wanted it to look like
\\
you use printf("\\\");

use:
printf("'/n'");
