Morris Gibbs was a late nineteenth-century amateur ornithologist from Michigan. He published articles in Field & Stream magazine in the late 1880s on the birds of Michigan, corresponded with a network of collectors and the Smithsonian Institute, and was typical of the cadre of natural history collectors across the country at the time.
