Try replacing the speed sensor, located on the bell housing. Is a simple fix. Unplugs and unscrews for removal. I know that on a lot of the Chrysler vehicles when the speed sensor goes out it will NOT let it shift out of low gear. To prevent the transmission from being burned out( This little jewel is what tells the transmission when to shift, and at what speed the vehicle is traveling)...

You might be just real low on your transmission fluid.  I have a '95 LeBaron that the transmission would slip out of gear and it was just low on transmission fluid ... REAL LOW.  That corrected it and it's running fine.

I had that problem several months ago. I took it to the same shop I have been going to for 14 years. I have always thought them to be fair. They told me that the transmission was basically blown and needed to be replaced or rebuilt.
