why does "C-c" behave like "C-g"? It is impossible for me to exit emacs using "C-x C-c". How do I get C-c to work like C-c?

emacs version is
"gnu emacs 21.2.1 i686-pc-cygwin of 2003-01-23 on Draco" I am running on a windows XP

This fixes it:

export CYGWIN="binmode ntsec tty"

The default cygwin console does odd things
with control-C.  Try setting the environment
variable CYGWIN=tty and you should see an
improvement.  Or use X.

Edit your cygwin.bat file (for example, c:\cygwin\cygwin.bat) and add:

set cygwin=tty

before:

bash --login -i
