I know detroit is banned, and right now mine is in animal control becuase the assholes of eastpointe took her... seriously im not some ghetto black detroitr fighting my baby girl. im a 21 year old white girl who walks all three of my damn dogs daily. seriously my advice go to your city hall ask the city manger, or clerk. they'll have the city ordience records and they'll say what you need. most cities require pitts and other bully breeds to be tied at all times and when your out of the house tied taunt and even muzzeled. i have court tomarrow. if she was an american pit bull she'd be home right now. hope that helps and by god dont ever let a cop near your dog. andrea darkange1l@yahoo.com

I have a pitbull kennel and it is hard to even walk my "babies" down the road without people saying "aw, what kind of dog is that its so pretty and its hair is so soft?" I reply its a pitbull and you can see the fear in their eyes as they seem to almost run away. I also have had people ask if my dog is a mix breed because they are pits but they are not mean. I simply reply that the BSL and a lot of counties have (What I call make believe) newspapaer articles about pitbull attacks. In fact if you actually read the article and see the picture its not even a pitbull but rather a lab or chihuahua. I think we should all whom raise or own pitbulls should rally the capital and stop the BSL and all the b.s. articals and all the negitive lies. Could you imagine if pitbulls could sue for slander?????

are there any laws in michigan that are BSL for pitbulls/am staff.? I have an am staff. and would like to know exactly what laws are in place specificly for this breed if any. thanks

Yes there are laws on owning pits but it depends on which city u live in when i say pits i mean any bully breed and they are actually trying to ban pitbulls/bully breeds in michigan which i think is bull but all we can do is try to educate people on how good these dogs are and how stupid some of there owners are

Waterford Township has laws against Pitbulls, Amstaffs and Saffordshire Terriers. I think they made it so dog owners of Pontiac cannot move into Waterford, knowing 60% of dog owners in Pontiac own "Pitbull type dogs" I veiw this as being highly prejudice towards those people in Pontiac.

Pontiac doesn't have a ban. It was repealed. Waterford, Grosse Pointe Woods, Redford, Ecorse, Melvindale all have bans. Westland, Detroit, Dearborn and Dearborn Heights have restrictions.

I don't know, but I know you can own them in Westland if there spayed/nueterd, tattooed, and microchiped, and the same in Dearborn Hights, only they don't NEED to be tattooed there. But I would like to know about the laws and restrictions about them in Livonia.

There are many breed specific laws in MI. I think, What we need to do is get together,and figure out the best way to fight these unfair laws. If we all sit back and wonder, and just talk about it... who will save our dogs?I would be heart broken if they passed BSL in my city.(Roseville)

pitbulls aren't dangerous. It's the owner that makes the dog mean. I have a boxer that was abused before we got her and she bit at everyone. No dog should be banned because of human cruelty. They have rights to live and be with any respectable family that will take care of them and treat them right.

i think the laws against pits are ridiculous. there is an alaskan malamute where i live that just killed a 7 year old little girl. they are the ones that need to be banned

there are not strong enough laws against this animal in the state of michigan.They are dangerouse animals that cant be trusted and they do noy belong in communities that have small children.Pitbulls are a breed of dog that should be sentenced to death!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it realy bothers me how people say they are so sweet,but everyday some one gets attacked by this so called "sweet" animal.

i think all responsibilities should be put on the owner not the pitbull or any other dog. dogs act how the owner trains them. i have a pitbull and hes a big baby, wouldnt hurt anyone. and if they banned pits where i live, i will move before i give up my pit.
