How old can you be to get a tattoo with parent consent?

I just read all the posts on this forum, and I can't believe the amount of people who are so young trying to get tattoos. Do you all realize that these things are permanent and you have to have them for the rest of your life, and if you get them removed the horrible scars they leave? I've seen the scars they leave and they are not at all nice. Not only that do you realize how much they cost to get done? Also how unclean some of the places are that will tattoo underage? Your more likely to walk away with a horrible tattoo, that fades and altogether is just dodgy. Personally I am 18 and yes I do have tattoos myself, 2 in fact and one of them was done just before I turned 17. But for both of them I had the design I wanted for 2 years before I actually got them done,to make sure I liked the design. Put some thought into what you get, don't just rush out and get them done. And even though I did get one of mine done before the legal age of 18 without consent and 16 with. I want to say just wait till you are of legal age, if you still want one then get it done.

i no u can get a tattoo underage in Flordia WITH parents consent BUT i have a friend who is 16 & she has 2 tattoos bcuz she got them done in ARGENTINA! in other countries like Argentina & all, they dnt ask 4 permission & shes hiden it from her parents 4 about almost 2 yrs now! but, im 16 & i have permission2 get a tattoo & honestly i wanna wait, bcuz our bodies r still growing...see, ive done my research & the thng is, we're still growing & our tattoo would look sooo weird wen u grow, i mean, my friends 1st tattoo is already starting 2 "change" a lil...but my point is, there r places dat'll do it, & basically most places wont! but FL u need permission, Argentina u dnt...so unless u wanna fly all the way 2 argentina 4 a tattoo?...HAVE FUN SEARCHING! And 4 ppl who want piercing witout permission ... if u live on Long Island like me, u can go to Jamaica Ave cuz i got a piercing on my back there witout permission [its a surface piercing, ALL surface piercings r 'temporary'] anyhow, if not, buy a self piercing kit on E-Bay or sumtin!!Have FUN!

Hey, I think that it's your body and you should be able to do anything that you want to it, but don't go all crazy and pierce a bunch of stuff on your body and get multiple tattoos when you're like 12 or 10. That's gay and I read that Lexie girl's comments and she is DUMB!!! I mean, I'm older than her and I think that she's an idiot already and I haven't even met her! The only piercings I have are the ones on my ears, I've had them each pierced 4 times and are planning to get them pierced again. I really want to get a tattoo but my mom says that I can get one on my 15 B-day. If u r gonna get something pierced or tattoed, just make sure that the dude who is doing it has majorly sterilized the needle or just got it out of the package. If u think my advice was gay then whatever.Just remember,plan it out before u do it b/c one day you might regret it.

Okay I'm 13 (turning 14 in July) and since I was 11 I wanted a Tattoo, I had picked out a design and have been wanting the same tattoo since then, so I have the whole "Just wait while in case you change your mind" I know all about the screw ups that can happen and am willing to risk it, I had gotten my belly button ring when I was 12 and don't regret it in the least. I can see why 11 was WAY to young, but around 14 and over till 18 should be able to get one with parental consent, or have the parent there (my mom's cool, she actually WANTS me to get one, we wont talk about what my dad thinks) anyways it just depends on what type of person your talking to, some people are good decision makers, some aren't. Anyways I still want one and was wondering is anyone knows where to get one at my age in Canada (Vancouver, Vernon, Panticton, or Princeton)those are the only place's I can go. Most of the posts on here are so immature that I can't believe that I tattoo, I would never tattoo anyone under 18 even my on son. You have to realize the fact that tattooing is an art not just a design on your chest back or arm but that they have deep meaning. There are a lot of grown men and women that I won�t tattoo because they don�t even understand the importance and meaning of what a tattoo really is. If you have a tattoo/symbol you want as a tattoo you it has to have great meaning to you and how you are not just right now but who you will be in the future. It has to be true to how you are and what you stand for. You will all say that if I don�t like it I can remove it, but your insurance doesn't cover it, You probably wont have the cash on hand because you can't get a descent job because of your tattoos and you think you can just remove it and have to explain to people that the big nasty ugly scare on you is where your tattoo used to be I don�t think you really know what your asking so just think about it, I give tattoos and it took me three years to get one for my self.

hey guyz & girlz you can make your own tattoo heres how 1) take a needle 2) some paint or penz (gel pens,writing pens etc: 3)take the top off of what ever u r using and dip the needle in 4)take it out and push the needle in to your skin 5)press it, not to hard so you cut yourself 6)reapete steps three and four until your design is complete 7)LET IT DRY BEFORE DOING ANYTHING!!! i wanted a tattoo so bad so i made my own it will fade so ever two to three weeks touch it up (WARNING:MAKE SURE PRODUCTS ARE NOT POISONUS AND NEEDLE IS SANITIZED TATTOO MAY NOT HOLD THE FIRST TIME IT TAKES EXPIERYENCE:)THANK YOU

Well im alomost 15 like 2 DAYS hell ya, and my mom is allowing me to get a tattoo, my whole family is a tatoo kind of family so i grew up around them and iv wanted the tattoo im gunna get since i was 12. If you want tight ass tattoos check the website TattooFinder.com their sick! Im not sure where i can get it done a 15 in COLORADO but Ive heard there are some places, alot you must be 16 with consent, and for piercings, not genital you must be at least 13 i have 12 piercings, just 10 in ears, and my bellybutton (got it at 13) my eyebrow i piercied my self at 14 my mom loves it. and i pierced 5 of my ears myself! im 13 and have one tattoo on my right shoulder blade and im getting ready to turn 14 and hopefully ill get another tattoo my first tattoo was for my birthdate but my tattoo artist mike white from Princeton West Virginia got shot a month ago he tattooed before they put a age limit on tattooing so it did not apply to him but there is another guy who ran the shop and he might give me tattoo cause my cousin and grandmother was very close friends with the 2 if any questions email me at layed94@hotmail.com and u r stuck with it i discussed a tattoo with many different artists for about 4 months and decided i would get one and mike was so clean about everything he even opened the needles and everything in front of me if u want to see my tattoo then email me its celtic and tribal outlined in black colored green

hey everyone. i was almost 16 when i got my first tattoo. i got my boyfriends name on me, tyson, and tyson got my name on him. I dont regret this at all although i do understand the laws.. you may really want a tattoo at 13, but down the track you may not want it anymore, though that is the case with adults, too.. just that it seems to be the younger you are (and this isn't all cases, dont get me wrong) the less mature you are, and you dont tend to really know what you want.. you're still at an age where you swap and change what you like and dont like. Besides, if you really want that tattoo that you'll have for the rest of your life, you shouldn't have any problems waiting a couple of years for it... Plus, your skin will stretch as you grow and distort the tattoo, especially if you get it when you're in your early teens when your body is doing alot of its growing and shape changing. I got my tattoo done on a holiday in canada when i was staying with my boyfriends family. He had no problems getting a tattoo, since he was 21, but i was almost 16 and i couldn't use his parent for parental permission... luckily his brother knew a guy who has his own tattoo studio and would tattoo me.. he figured he may as well do it for a friend and i was going back to australia in a few weeks anyway.. and he seemed to have no problem breaking the law, lol he was convicted of manslaughter in the past. Anywho.. If you really want that tattoo.. give it a few years... If you're willing to have that design on you for 70 or so years.. then waiting 2 or 3 years shouldn't bother you. Besides.. over that time your body will have done majority of its growing, and you may have found a way to better your design.

I read that the governor of Jersey signed a law saying a parent has to be present while tattooing. So thats where im going. Here: Acting New Jersey governor DeFrancesco has signed legislation to require parental consent before minors can be tattooed or have parts of their bodies pierced. Parlors could face penalties for non-compliance. The new law makes it a disorderly person offense in New Jersey to body-pierce or tattoo a minor, 17 years of age or under without a parent's prior consent. Conviction is punishable by a jail term of up to 6 months and a fine of $1,000. The sponsor, State Senator Joe Palaia, says the procedure is minor surgery and can result in permanent damage to the body. He says that's why parental guidance is needed: "If they want to get a tattoo, one, they have to get parental consent. Two, the parent has to be there during the tattooing." Palaia says parents can help protect their sons or daughters from making compulsive decisions which they may later regret.

hey i think ppl over the age of 13 or 14 should be able to get a tattoo w/ parents permission im 13 and i love tattoos and i want one really bad and my mom is kool w/ it but im not gonna rush in to it cuz im not sure wut i want and im not sure if there is n~e art work i want on my body 4 my whole life! so right now im confused w/ the whole tattoo thing! so i just wanna say to all the young ppl like me i would really think twice ab it! cuz it will be there 4 ur whole life! but i might wait a few years before i get one probably?? maybe then i will be 100% sure wut i want! so if ur not 100% sure its wut u want then i wouldnt get it! and every body that says its ur body and u can do wut u want and is under 18 yeah its ur body but but ur not an adult yet and u live w/ ur parents or some kind of gaurdien still so it shouldnt be up to u wut u want to do w/ur body and ur parents should have some say so in it cuz u still live w/ them so 4 all the ppl that think their parents r really strict and stuff their just doin wut they think is right 4 u b/c they care 4 u! just be glad u have parents and that ur not in some kind of foster home b/c ur biological parents didnt want u!!!!

I think these 12-14 year olds who have/want tattoos should wait. I'm 16 years old turning 17 in a couple of months and I've decided to get a tattoo but that's because i'm near the end of puberty. You're underraged for a reason. It's for your health and personal well-being. Employment is very hard to obtain if you have a visible tattoo because people automatically stereotype you. Getting a tattoo to impress boys/girls and friends at school is the stupidest of reasons. You won't even know them in your future, No matter how many times you say "friends forever" To get this straight out. Unless the tattoo parlor is unlicenced, then you can get a tattoo in MOST areas with parental permission at 16. Once you turn 18, you do not need parental permission. As bad as you want the tattoo now and you're unable to obtain the parental permission just wait a couple of years. It's for your own good. Your parents will need to accompany you when you get the tattoo also. Tattoo removal is very very costly, so don't use that as any excuse for making a decision that could make or break your life. Also, make the tattoos subtle. Don't get something obscene that you will not appreciate at the age of 40 when you're married with children. There's just some advice. No need to flame me for it. But just THINK.

In the Alabama, the law says that anyone under 18 must have parental permission before getting tattooed. In my studio in Gadsden, Alabama we do not like to tattoo anyone under 16, and reserve the right to veto a design or location if we think it is inappropriate (eg: an inverted goat's head and pentagram on a 14 year old'sneck)and encourage minor's to put their tattoo in an unobtrusive location in case they change their mind later.

It varries from state to state....but most require any one under 18 to have parental consent.....some states will not touch you with parental consent under the age of 16 or 17.

in cali... it sucks you have to be 18.. me and my friends want to get tattoos, but we are looking for a place where you don;t need you parents permission.. almost all my friends have there bellybuttons pierced but my mom is so0o strict.. it makes me want to get stuff done and just hide it... i hate to hide it but i don't have a choice.. Ya well my friend juan gives tattoos & piercings to anybody that is over the age of 13. Tattoos range between $50.00 and $250.00 depending on the size and piercings are $30.00.

I want a tattoo so bad and my parents even said that they would take me to get it if I could find a place to get it done at. But I can not seem to find a place in Georgia that will give a Tattoo to a 16 year old even if they have permission. Don't you think that if you have permission to get a tattoo by your parents that you should be able to get one at any tattoo parlor you went to? But I also believe that if your going to get a tattoo at my age to put it in a place where if you want people to see it they can and if you don't they won't be able to. Don't you?

Well I'm 13 and i really want a tattoo and i tried looking for places but i couldn't find one... so one day i went to a tattoo parlor and they said that i have to be 16 and i should wait because I'm still growing.. yeah there probably right but isn't that why they have tattoo removals i mean they should let us make are own choices

you can get a tattoo or piercing at any age at the willmington indoor. i got my nose pierced there and most of my friends get their tongues and navels done there too.

I got a tattoo just the other day, I am 15 years old. My mom doesn't know about it, and the person that gave it to me, he charged me 25 dollars. I didn't have to have a parent's consent. It didn't hurt, it felt like a burning tickling pull in your skin. It didn't hurt much after either. I got two cherries on my right hip. in Texas you have to be at least 18 to get a tattoo with out parental consent. And at least 16 with parental consent. I know this because I just got a tattoo about 4 months ago.

I have a tattoo on my hip of a butterfly and it didnt hurt but it stung for a while. I got mine in the UK and i didnt need parent concent even though im only 14. The guy who did it says he will give a tattoo to anyone over 12. but for liscened tattoists you have to be 16 with parent concent. hope this helps!

i think that u should b able to get a tattoo at any age. its ur body. but i just got 1 about a week ago and im 12 (a playboy bunny). i had 1 before that when i was 10 mostly every thing on my body has a hole in it. so yeah o and i live in Washington and i had no parent thingy. so buh bye!!!
