I recently took in an orphaned kitten,he was orphaned at 4-5 weeks of age. His age currently is 8-10 weeks. He has had his first vet visit, and is healthy and seems to be adjusting well.  He does not to clean himself very well, and it is not unusual for us to have to give him at least a partial bath every day to remove stool from his behind and or legs.  Is this normal? When will he "take over" and clean himself? (or won't he?).  Be glad to have some advice.

I am sure it was because he was taken too early....I had similar issues w/my Maine Coon-so I kept his hair extremely short back there and gave him many butt bathes.  He never changed.  Hopefully yours will
