Does Lyme disease affect thyroid function?  I've been having muscle twitches for several months not to mention irritated eyes, and swollen glands.  I've been checked for HIV and lyme.  Both negative.  The only abnormality was my thyroid values (Thyroid value was 4.19 and TSH 2.39).  I know Lyme is a difficult diagnosis (my blood test showed no antibodies), I just want to be sure I'm on the right track.  I'm a healthy 33 yo male with a family history (on my Dad's side) of thyroid issues.

I was wondering that also. I am a 16 yr old female, I had Lyme Disease, and have an overactive thyroid.

I am also having problems with my thyroid.
I am going for a test this week.
I had an ultrasound done last week and they found nodules and a cyst on my thyroid.

I have chronic Lyme Disease for the past 10 years. So, to answer your question, yes I do believe that LD affects the thyroid.
