In almost every state in the US, it is ILLEGAL to tattoo anyplace other than a licensed tattoo shop, and yes, YOU must be licensed.

Move to North Dakota or North Carolina, Unregulated states. However, you'd still need a business tax id, if you want to do it legit... Also, don't suck at tattooing, you'll get no repeat business.

It is illegal... however it is perfectly legal to tattoo people for free. I tattoo people for FREE... yet I charge them to hang out at my house while I do them, which is PERFECTLY LEGAL.

it is not illegal in the state of North Carolina to get paid to do tattoos with out a license unless you advertize you shop it adds or on TV. it is a stupid law, but the law is the law.

I am professional tattoo artist you have to have a license and a licensed tattoo shop that is clean and sanitize. you also have to prove that you are a good artist or no one will come to you as a tattoo artist.
