In a C program, while using fopen function to open a file, it gives error as "permission denied". The ".dat" file which i am trying to open is a file exported from MS Access Database. Is the problem due to database?

seems u r working on unix or other  clone of unix .  This happens because unix operating system uses read ,write ,execute permissions for files and processes to ensure the security of the system and in ur case u dont have the required permissions to operate on that file.

check the permissions in linux if u use.
