my question is in regards to grooming - i keep reading that cairn's don't shed - mine does!  I bathe him once a month - i brush him - i try to once a week - what am i doing wrong?  He leaves wheaten hair all over.  He eats well, drinks lots of water, could it be my brush? Technique? Help!  I would LOVE it if he didn't shed!!

Cains need to have their coats stripped every six to eight months.  This is done by plucking out the dead hair that doesn't fall out on its own so the new coat can grow in.  If the hair is trimmed instead, it can cause your dog to itch, shed and get dirty faster, well as lose it's hard coat that protects it.
