My cat recently started to hide for long periods of time, acting like flying objects are coming toward her, walking in egyptian form, sitting with us when she would not before.  Is this a sign of blindness?

She may be in heat. It matters the age and health level of her to see if she is blind or not. If she is an older cat, she could be blind. If she is known to have health problems, she could be blind. If you examine her eyes (no need for a vet to do this) and her eyes are slightly foggy and blue that could be also a sign of blindness.
