I have just been adopted by a Yorkie. I have never had a Yorkie & He was a rescue with Puppymill background. He came from a very responsible rescue service. He is 1 year old. 7 Pounds, neutered, up to date on shots. But, His eyes seem very red. He is very quiet. We are becoming friends, but, I have let it be on His terms. He doesn't seem very fancy like I always imagined Yorkies to be. His hair seems to be going in all directions at once. I did brush Him a little bit, which He seemed to like. He looks like some of the puppies I have seem on the web. He walks fairly well on the lead, & goes outside for peeing.
I would rather not take Him to the Vet until His booster is due, but, I am worried about His eyes.
He ate a little Mighty dog. He looks very sad.
Actually, I had just lost a Chihuahua & was certainly not looking for Zachary. But, sometimes, You find something really great, You didn't know You wanted.
Any tips on this particular breed or rescue situation would be appreciated. My Grandson was with Me when We got Zach,& He cuddled right up on the 6 year olds lap. But, We have an all adult home, & Zach seems to like the quite.
Thank You.
Marilyn

Maybe is eyes are red from being stressed out.  Maybe he caught something at the pound.  Make sure that no hair is in his eyes.  There is also a problem that can be caused by in-growing eyelashes.  Maye he is just sad and tired and needs to rest.  Maybe it is allergies.  Were his eyes red when you got him or did they turn red in your house?  If it is the latter, it could be an allergy to something that you use to clean with or use to freshen household odors.  Be patient and do not fuss at him. He'll be the best pet you ever had. I have 4.
