i think we dream to take a load off. i mean our daily lives are stressful and without dreams there would be no good. most people dream nice things so it makes up for the bad day you had.

It usually relieves stress and shows some of your desires, etc. For example, If I had a dream that I was killing my mom when I was young, I found out that this means that I don't even think about my mom or care about her, it doesn't mean I'mactually literally 'killing' her, it just means to care, etc.

Dreaming is the way in which your conscience is asleep but your sub consience still works, it brings upon all of your fantasies, and dependancies, even deisires that need fullfilling, which is why many young men dream of sexual encounters, many people with a few solid goals in mind will often dream of fullfilling them, your sub conscience is also said to unlock many lost memories and pertains information much better than your avalible conscience mind can. we only harness 10 % of your brain at any given time, Albert einstien did too but all of it went into reasoning and such part of the brain, everyday he would be reminded where his hosue was, what food was called and even some tastes were new to him, he also was perplexed on the human mind him haing a particulary unusual one, and many times pndered dreaming he even invented many inetions in his dreams

Dreaming is a sign that your brain is still working even though the rest of your body is asleep. Dreams are visions of your past mixed with visions of your future. your brain takes people/places/objects and puts them into a scenery and you are sub-conciously creating the life you would rather be in. When you don't remember that you even had a dream, it just means that the dream that you actualy had was not what your sub-conciousness wanted to see, so it blocks it out of your memory, those are the dreams that create "de ja vu" and such.

to dream is a mighty event our subconscience goes through every night, an average of two hours every night, an average of six years in a life time . we sleep a third of our lives so i think it is just almost as important as the study of life is. your body goes through spasims and your eyes move sparatically , this stage of sleep is called REM. the next stage is when your heart calms down and all sparatic movement lessens to a slow flow of action. then the last stage is the deep sleep stage where your body is limp, muscles relaxed and mind working alone. i like to think of it as a restaurant. through out the day the doors are open for whatever and whoever, like our minds and body is. then at night the restaurant closes it's doors and the employees stay inside to clean up and deal with all the work they have left over from when the restaurant was open, like our brain dealing with all the supressed thoughts and ignored visions that we all go through, dreaming is just another way our brain handles our leading thoughts and visions.

the reason for dreamin as the concensus of both psychologigsts and psysiologist is on the research over RAPID EYE MOVEMENT (REM)
..that is the brainz working is at its peak during this stages and the neurotransmitters exercise during the sleeping hours .. and synapses get rearranged ...
if you have any querry or suggestion

Dreams are necessary in order for your brain to enter a state of subconscious activity and there by signaling the entire body to to regenerate itself.( in short a component of body rest)

i think we dream of what occupies our minds the most... our thoughts run deeper and our imagination runs wild because we don't have control over our thoughts while asleep... dreams run very deep and some even reveal your deepest deepest desires... the mind is powerful

I believe that the reason we dream is to reprocess the information we have experienced during that day.  Sometimes our dreams can be very dramatic or even wild but the dreams we have are taken in very small pieces (perhaps a color you saw that day might be a color that will appear in your dream)

I belive that dreams are all to do with your mind and how you sub-conciously deal with everyday ocurences and actions, alot of people have different oppinions about dreams which we dont all agree on but it can be hard to find a happy medium.
Dreams are a funny thing and we ask our selves is my mind playing a trick on me?
I belive that dreams can be brought on by alot of things including stress, anger, sexual fanticies and everyday occurences that may happen but we have no control over.
a couple of years ago i had a dream of being in a car crash which at the time i had no idea about and couldn't understand, but a year later i had the crash and didn't realise till about two weeks after the crash that i remembered the dream and that scared the life out of me because it was exactly the same as i dreamt and i had no connections to it or to this day no answer, it was what some may call a preminition.
Everything we do in life will have an effect on our sub-concious mind and we need to look into our selves and work out when we have good and bad dreams and change what we can in life to improve our sleep patterns and the way we think and dream.
I hope this helps anyone having trouble understanding about dreams and thank you all for your comments they have been a real eye opener.
Thanks Spike
