Quakers settled in the 17th centuary. They settled in the Area in the North-West of the original states in a state called Pennsylvania named after the quaker founder William Penn who was a British man who was given the land by his father who recieved it in payment from The King of England.

They settled there because they where persecuted in the UK and Europe. In Europe the Catholics locked them up for not being catholic, IN the UK they where put in gaol for refusing to swear an oath fo alligence to the King.

They where also thrown out of state that had a puritan base as they often disrupted church services. state such as Massachusetts. so they made ther own state.
