I have a female Pomeranian who came on heat and my male Pomeranian was all over her. It is now about a month later and her nipples have grown much bigger but she hasn't gotten fat and if she was pregnant she would be due in 3 weeks. When do dogs start to become fatter? Is it the last few weeks of their pregnancy? please help. Thank you

you guys are awful. i cant believe you are letting your dogs get pregnant. do you know how many unwanted animals there are because of people who think it is funny not to spay and neuter. type in "urgent animals" on the web and see how many healthy dogs are being killed because you are too lazy to fix them. and you dont even know anything about pregnant dogs? shame on you

This is to Manda, Sorry if everyone is not as perfect as you, I've had dogs all of my life and My dog whom I've had for three years is now expecting. Some dog got into my yard and got my dog pregnant. Out of all the years I've owned a dog this is the first one I've had expecting. So I now very little about dogs and pregnancy. So it is not something I now much about because I've never had a pregnant dog before, so if you now all about it,Your either perfect in everyway (which I doubt) or you just have alot of time on your hands to beat down people who's dog is expecting the first time around.

We rescued a yorkie not a teacup 1...its now in heat and we're going to breed it but not sell the puppies cause we want them...if ne 1 can give info about just general stuff bout small pregnant dogs i would be very thankful...shortnreallysweet92703@yahoo.com...we also have two other dogs a cocker spanial n a teacup yorkie would they bother the 1 thats pregnant?

to manda you should mind your own bis dogs are going to mate and some people dont have money to fix them and most people are going to get the dog they want which is ussully going to be a puppy so why dont you try to stop world hunger or something ok

my friends dog, has fot pregrant by mistake, she has had her 1st injection, the vet say she will need 3 more and a scan in 4 weeks time, are the injections a risk to the dog, could she stop the injections and let her have the pups, could we leave her with jst one pup, would that me ok, she a golden retriver, and has the attention span of a gnat, i worry it will also give her another season, which will last how long?
sorry to ask you this but we live in orkney scotland, and it very expensive here, i can see them putting the dog down, the dog 3 i would have her but never had puppies before, and cant find out much information

I AGREE WITH MANDA. HOWEVER, I HAVE A DOG AND CONTRIBUTE TIME TO OUR LOCAL HUMANE SOCIETY SHELTER.  YOU CAN HAVE PUPPIES...JUST MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO AND WHOM YOUR GIVING THEM TO!  IT BREAKS MY HEART TO SEE HOMELESS ANIMALS THAT WILL NEVER GET A 100% HOME THAT THEY NEED.

okay, about the quote of thinking it's "funny" to not have your dogs fixed... i don't believe it's funny at all and i'mnot too lazy to get my dogs fixed, i just think that it's not up to me to not let my dogs experience parenthood! that is wrong to say to people Manda. it is sad when dogs don't have homes, but anyone posting on here, i'mpretty sure that they mean well!!!!

you people dont deserve to have dogs.by not fixing your dogs you are very unresponsable
how can you take a chance with your dogs life how can you breed muts that will most likely end up in a shelter if the puppies evan survive it dosent seem like you kknow the first thing about breeding dogs and i hope you feel good about your self.

Manda some people want dogs so no that is not shame on us. Some people who read these are not lazy but how would people be able to experience the love of pets if they were all spay and nutered. female dogs come into season every 6 months. if they are not spaded and get pregnant (you might notice this bye bigger nipples, getting fatter or not eating much or eating lots).
they have litters between 7-9 weeks.

I think my dog may be pregnant because I caught a dog on her.... I was going to get her fixed at the end of this month because there are lots of animals out there and people can be very hurtful to animals. Do I need to take her to the VET? hey guys i have a quwestion i have a 1 year old pom and i believe she might be pregnant, about 30 days ago my jack russel had some sex with her or at least that is what i believe i am so scared , because she might be pregnant she hasn't gained any weight at least visibly and she is not easting more that usuall and i might say that she is pretty active, however her lower breasts the first 2 pairs from the belly up are getting pretty big could anyone tell me if that could be some sort of sign or  it could be just because she had first  menstruation and now she is developing into a  
older dog, please help me i can not afford pupies NOW and i am not able to take her to the vet at this point. anything will be appreciATED THANKS A LOT

my dog is almost a year old in july my husband pasraway in november last year she is all i have.  now shes pregnant i had her on her chain and she got nailed nothing i could do. now as far as unwanted the puppies are not at all. unplanned maybe. just need help with the birth and needing to know how to help and how long she'll be pregnant?

I think you are awful Manda for being self righteous and judgemental. Many of us are breeders who sell our dogs and wouldn't dream of them being part of the problem you're talking about. I have an American Apple Head Chihuahua with black long hair and she just turned 1yr.old on April 1st. She came in heat for the first time on February 21st and my male dog was going around smelling & licking her all the time, but did not do anything at that time. About the next day or two he started to get after her. I was told within the 25day period from when female dogs are in heat and the male dog goes and goes the better chances the female will have a better litter. Anyway, I expect after the 25 day which was March 18th, I would be able to determine when she would be due. On March 29th her nipples started to grow, but her stomach was not big yet. On April 7th her belly started to grow and her nipples started to fill up with milk, but not alot yet. I checked her as of today April 22nd and I can fill some little baby heads, maybe four or five, but not sure. She is starting to lay around alot more and I have to pick her up to put into bed because she cannot jump on the bed cause she is to big and she also breaths really hard, she loves her belly rubbed alot. I determined she will have them by May 5th or 10th so I don't know if this will help anyone, but I will keep an update as soon as she does have the puppies. Thanks Annie

Manda i think that YOU A AWFUL person because a female dog is suppost to have at least one litter before you fix them because then they are less likely to have cancer and maybe some dogs get pregnant before they have the money to get them fixed and there are unwanted dogs out there because people are assholes kinda like you

My pomeranian was outside 2 weeks ago and a golden retriever was doin it with her and now we think she is pregnant because her teats are getting larger. When we felt her stomach we thought that we felt something in there. PLEASE tell me if she is pregnant!!!

whoever doesnt have anything nice to say about dogs keep it to yourself....people love dogs and want to know about them being pregnant because they care thats why they are asking questions...duh....a lot of people dont care for dogs but this site seems like one that does well the people do.  as for people letting their dogs have babies let them i'msure they are going to allow them to go to happy homes if you have a problem about dogs then thats your opinion but come on its not everyones fault that dogs dont have homes and get put to sleep.....my little yorkie will be a daddy soon and we are very excited well thats all for me take care and keep up the good information about dogs coming

i have min-pin that i just bred and the average carrying time is usually around 63 days. and as far as all of the unwanted dogs running around, that has nothing to do with us that are breeding our dogs for the use of sale, show, etc... there is nothing wrong with willfully breeding your pet.

I think that my dog is pregnant, and i needed some information so i got on this web site. My dog had all the simtoms that people said. If there nipples get big then she is pregnant, and if they vomite in the moring sometimes then they have moring sickness, that is also a sign of pregnantcie. If they start to get uncomturble when you pet there stomach then they could be pregnant also. They can only be pregnant if they mated with a boy dog while they are in heat, and they can't be fixed. I once saw a answer on this website and it was a lady that was upset how we don't fix our dogs. Well all i can say for that lady is you STINK! i think it is evil to fix animals, and if they want to have puppies let them! hope that my advice helps. Oh! also there stomach should get big about 3 weeks or a month after they have mated. Hope i help you guys!

well i have a doverman and she is a pinitcher and she might be pregnant. the only thing she does is lays around and her nibbles are getting bigger
and she is fater then ussally.

i have rescued a pregnant dog from a cemetary 3 days ago, she is very pregnant and she has milk in all her nipples and shes very tired all the time (im guessing due to her improper diet), but thats just a guess.  Im getting her some puppy food tomarro, and i have her a box but she wont go into it without me, im scared for her . her puppys feel real big and i dont have the money yet to take her tio teh vet, what should i excpect.

My dog is a terrier mix, and my nephew let her outside when she was in heat and a big dalmation got her.......i've had her since she was a baby. I don't know what to do, i was going to get her fixed but i was told to wait after she was done being in heat..i'm so mad at myself. Is there any way that she can be pregnant..if she's still bleeding a lil bit? And if she is pregnant which i hope she isn't, is there a way i can get her to have like an abortion or something?

well, it's not unkind to let our dogs breed, if we didn't - if no one did than they would become exinct! sure there are people out there who treat animals badly (and they're not just dogs) these people should be the ones who are shamed apon!!! its not the cause of dog breeding that is killing them it's the owners who don't look after them! i just found out that if a dog is neutered at a young age he still has the chance of growing his things back.  is that true?  and i was also told that a neutered dog can still get a "load" off and impregnate a female.  anyone had this experience?

First of all how would you like to spend big bucks on getting your dog fixed and then find out two months later that he planted his seed right b4 u got him fixed. My dad's dog, Lady is pregnant, it was not on purpose and he does not think it's funny at all but anyways they are pregnant for about 2 months or a little less. I know because my dog, Pepper that I had when I was about 7 years old had nine puppies and they were all healthy and lived for more facts about heat cycles or anything post at my xanga. this is for manda for ur information i a good amount of dogs and u shouldn't be saying shame on anyone because some people after buyin the dog food and food for themselves and of things they need they can't always afford the vet bill ok i should know because i want to get my three girl dogs fix because 1 of them has had 2 litters of puppies and in on her 3rd and the 2nd dog just had her 2nd litter the other one hasn't even gone into heat yet but she did just a few months ago brake her leg and i still haven't be able to fully pay off the bill but just think of it this way i have 3 dogs one i have a $70 dollar vet bill on and it will cost me at least $60 dollars for each to get spayed and on top of that i just lost my job so my mother is helpin me til i get another one so keep in mind that some people can't afford vet bills for awhile u might be able to but some people can't

This is for Manda, I am not too lazy to nueter or spay my animals, I just dont want to B/C she is a purebred basset hound and i want to sell the puppies. Even if i dont sell them I will keep them. We have all kinds of animals at our house and I love them all. U know how many unwanted children there are in this world. Maybe we should get some men and women fixed since its such a problem. I breed to propagate the species and am a responsible dog owner.  If we spay all dogs then they would become extinct.  It is okay to have a litter if you are responsible enough to care for them and find reliable homes for them.  By the way poodles do not stink

And yes there are a lot of dogs who need help, there are a lot of dogs in shelters.  But responsible breeders should not be put into the same group as irresponsible owners who are too lazy to spay/neuter their animals.  Without the breeders there would not be dogs at all!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been told that Pomeranians can get pregnant and deliver a healthy litter more than two times in one year. A litter can total 3-5 babies. We are hoping ours is pregnant because we love her and want her to live on with her offspring, because she is so exceptional in beauty and personality.I hope all who have sick answers can appreciate responsible pet owners and the purpose of breeding their pet so as to pass on joy and love and allow people with sick answers the chance to change their ways. Maybe better their outlook.

hey, I am breeding pocket beagles and i absolutely love dogs. My dog and my sister's dog had puppies, they were so cute!
Anyway, i have 4 dogs, a male cocker-beagle named Shiloh, two female pocket beagles named Jenna and Molly, and a new little male pocket beagle named Kodi. when shiloh and my sisters dog, Waffles, had puppies we really didn't know a lot about pregnant dogs so we looked things up on the internet and did the best we could and the puppies did great.

To Binksie, I think it may be likely your pomeranian is pregnant & its a good idea to take hear to the vet to make sure. Pomeranians giving birth is actually a pretty complicated process & the puppies usually need a lot of your help if its to survive & the help is needed as soon as they are born. My pomeranian just gave birth tonight without my knowledge (because I didn't even know she was pregnant) & I found a dead puppy! So learn from my misfortune!!

my rottweiler has been sleeping alot and her nipples are huge and my little sister like pulled them and something white came out. we put her with our friend rot but the owner said that they did not do anything. but she is showing no sign of beeing fat just her nipples are sagging. does this mean shes pregnet and how long do they carrie their puppies?

i agree about irresponsible people letting their pets get pregnant, your all ignorant, maybe you should take trip to your local shelter and see how many dogs are killed everyday because of people like you.

I really think that people shouldn't put down other people for letting their dogs have puppies if they are willing to take care of them so if you don't know if they are willing to take care of them why say something mean (MANDA)

Errrrrrm, i have heard that it is bout 9 weeks. If i were u though i would contact a vet rather than relying on the internet. ppl dont always tell the truth. read sumwhere that dogs are pregnant for 1 yr. yer rite!!! lol :)

To Manda! It is called survival of the fittest did your mom or dad have you spayed? they must of!  there may just be individuals out there that did not study up on the breeding procedures but it called "hey look I get to enjoy birth with my extended family" So shame on you!

Who are you judge someone.  Many people buy certain breeds with the intention of breeding them.  There is nothing wrong with posting questions on-line.  At least they are posing the question. It's those that don't that I worry about!

This is for Manda: How do you know what the purpose of the dogs pregnancy is? How do you know they don't plan on keeping the puppies, or selling them to a caring home? You come on here making a lot of assumptions. Think before you type. Maybe you're parents should have been neutered before having you, but since they weren't, you should be neutered, we don't need more people like you in the world.

what are the stages off a dog being pregnant? cause i have a black lab that is a big dog by weight but she has always been that way. how can i tell if she has puppies inside? she has gone lost 2 times for about 2 hrs and 30 min.i think she went to a dogs house and was mating. what are the steps of a dogs pregnancy?

I just asked the question "how long are dogs pregnant?" I am doing a project for school about breeding dogs and how neglectful some people are.... Any help will be appreciated! I agree, spay and neuter and leave the breeding to the pros!

My doggy bella is having puppies and we love her very very much her nipples are big and there is an outline in her belly of them (how cute) they are pregnant for about 8 weeks ( 2 months) I'm so excited and well done for everyone making there doggie happy p.s the person that says it is awful to get your dog pregnant they couldn't be more wrong it lets the dog live a happier life knowing that they have gave birth so HA HA to u! u probably don't even have a dog so u don't know wat it feels like!

Well..my dog (Billings) is half german shephard and half rautweiler and unfortunatly she got pregnant..we were trying to prevent it and all of our dogs (3) are girls and the other two are fixed..we were waiting until she was old enough to fix her..but she went in heat and busted away from her chain and went next door to where a full blooded rautweiler lives..im sure yall know what happened..:) im not sure how long shes been pregnant but im guessing since like october-ish. it is now december..so when will she have her puppies? and what do we do with them because i have only found a home for one of them..we cant keep them because we already have three huge dogs..and I defenitly dont want them to be killed..that makes me soo sad..help?

Well to answer Binksie. They don't necessarily get "fat" as you would think they can get some bigger the most common noticeable change would be the nipples getting bigger.

Manda I can understand your frustration of how many dogs are killed because there are so many. However it isn't usually because of owners who care and try and do there best for there pets. I have two Labrador retrievers one is a male and the other is a female. We have bred them and plan to continue to do so it has never been a problem finding good homes for them.

There are many people who have abandoned there pets and/or don't care much for them and then when they are out and about that is where much of our problems come from with so many. I wish some people were more responsible for there pets but if people are looking and asking questions it is better to try and educate instead of putting them down. "Honey gathers more flies." As the adage goes.

This is just my opinion.

Dogs are pregnant about two months...they start to get fat around the last month and you will know when they are ready when milk start to seap through the nipples.

dogs dont get fat untill the last 2 weeks or so. in the last week you will be able to feel the puppies moving. when she starts trying to be around ppl all the time shes close to having the puppies

no, Manda, your awful! if someone wants their dog to get pregnant, its not bad. do you even have any dogs? if you do, how long did you wait to get your dog fixed? don't say anything, unless you know what your talking about... and, people don't right away kill healthy dogs, they wait to see if they get adopted, and if they don't after a while, they get put to sleep, but they'd be happier. and how do you know that these people wont keep their puppies? so, don't say ANYTHING!!!!!

shoot to lazy to get her fixed my foot. it took 3 of us to hold her down so the male could mount her held on to her for 90 minutes till they were untied and then held her up side down for 30 minutes to make sure nothing leaked out.. this is her second litter in 5 years... she's a wonderful momma but a PITA to breed. there is nothing lazy or funny about breeding dogs

manda... as long as you keep watch on your dog while its on heat, theres no reason to get it opped. and maybe they dont know loads about pregnant dogs, but they've asked havent they? it obvious they care a lot about their dogs. would you prefere they just didnt ask? and you cant blame stray dogs on them. they are almost certain to find all the pups great homes, and there is a thing called BREEDING dogs...

My aunts bull dog was pregnant for 52 days and my dog was pregnant for 65 days.  I guess for all dogs its differnt!
I'm thinking from 50-70 days at the most.

Dogs will start gaining during the last couple of weeks of the pregnancy. You must be prepared for the upcoming litter. Their teats will fill with milk a couple of days before delivery. The more puppies the fatter your gets.
