Hi. My name is Janell. I am a pop lyricist from NW Ohio and I am having a very hard time finding a collaborator who is reliable, dedicated and trustworthy.
I have placed my ads at colleges, coffee shops, in music forums and on university bulletin boards.
Where else can I place my ad?
Are there any reliable and dedicated collaborators out there? If so, where are they?
Here is a shortened version of my ad.
Serious pop lyricist from NW Ohio seeking a serious collaborator. Must be willing to work towards pop success; able to write music and lyrics. Must be willing to work together in person once a week.
Also must agree to royalty percentages before working together.
If you can't work together once a week or if writing is just a hobby, don't respond to my ad!!!
Thanks.
Janell

Hi Janell
I can empathise with your problem, it is one that all lyricists encounter. From my experiance you have two options, and I'd advise that you pursue them both.
1. Learn to play an instrument, keyboards or guitar. This may sound daunting, but remember, you only need to learn the basic chords so that you can produce a basic backing for your lyrics, this will help when you find a collaborator so that you can express in musical terms how you feel the song might be.

2.When it comes to finding a collaborator, advertisments rarely yield satisfatory results. Good collaboration comes from understanding your writing partner and feeding off each others passion. So I think you need to get out to where people are performing.Try your local music scene, it doesn't just have to be pop oriented, most good musicians are willing to cross-over musical genres if the project is good.Get to know the musicians and how they play, find the ones that you feel have that special something that will work with your style. Talk to them and introduce them to your ideas, and remember to listen to thier's collaboration is a two-way street.
Good luck.

I am in Pennsylvania and I am pursuing songselling. I write music and Lyrics and I have my own studio in my home. I don't sing "front" but I can do excellent backups. Do you sing also?  If not, Who is going to sing your songs written for females..... presuming you target female singers. My interest is "sellable songs". If you have an interest please respond to this email. Thanks John
