My Schnauzer mix, 10 years old has been scratching and chewing at herself continuously for months now.  I have gotten rid of fleas and now am shampooing with medicated shampoo.  Nothing seems to help!  I am taking her into the vet tomorrow to try and get some resolution.  She has made herself almost bald on the back and her legs.  She has always had allergies, but this year has been terrible!  Anyone out there with advise, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

A lady found out her dog could hardly hear, so she took it to the
veterinarian. He found that the problem was hair in its ears, so he
cleaned both ears, and the dog could hear fine. The vet then
proceeded to tell the lady that if she wanted to keep this from
recurring, she should go to the store and get some "Nair" hair
remover, and rub it in its ears once a month.

The lady goes to the drugstore and gets some "Nair."  At the
register, the druggist tells her: "If you're going to use this under
your arms, don't use deodorant for a few days."

The lady says, "I'm not using it under my arms."

The druggist says, "If you're using it on your legs, don't shave for
a couple of days."

The lady says, "I'm not using it on my legs either; if you must know,
I'm using it on my Schnauzer."

The druggist says, "In that case, stay off your bicycle for a week."

have you consider a trainings collar. Like those that looks like a horn. that might help her stop biting herself while also she heals and grow her hair back from those affected areas.
I have just got my Miniature Schnauzer and to prevent him for suffering the same i try now to take him near the grass cause in the grass they can get a lot of fleas or any other bugs that might affect their skin.
Hope it helps my comment.
