www.breeders.net First though, if this is your first chihuahua, make sure you really want a chihuahua. They are lovely little dogs if properly trained and socialized, but they're not for everyone. If you're gone a lot, they will suffer, as they bond to one or two people and want to be with them all the time, your lap will never be empty. Do not buy from a breeder who will ship the dog to you. Up close and personal is the only way to know if you will get along. Expect to spend time with the litter,while you are getting to know the pups the breeder should be getting to know you. A good breeder wants to make sure their pups go to good homes, so be prepared to answer lots of questions about your home and work habits, where the dog will live, what you expect of the dog, your family makeup, etc. etc. Go to the library and check out "Chihuahuas for Dummies". It's the best book I have. If after you've read it, you say "That's the dog for me" then welcome to our extended family. If not, please don't buy a chihuahua just because they're the latest fad. It's a disservice to both you and the dog. Chihuahuas can live to be 20 years old or more, if you're not willing to give two decades of your life to the care of the animal, pick another breed. Being adored by a chihuahua is among the most wonderful experiences there is, their whole life is devoted to loving their human, being worthy of that love is the least we can do in return.

You have to make it sure that your family are ready for this new bundle of joy coming.If everyone in your family wants to become best of friends with he/she then this might be a problem because a normally a chihuahua will get used to 1-2 people. If this is the situation to get a chihuahua then renember to read books on Chihuahua'sI would sugest you read Chihuahua'sfor dummies.You will need to be home most of the time as a dog can get very lonely and when you come back they will be naughty.You should give your chihuahua 8 very small helpings of food everyday,and for walks they just need one a day even though they seem like the most active dogs.And your house will never be boring with your new furry friend around(if your getting one) good luck Jackie!

I am in the midst of finding a chihuahua myself, and I live in Manhattan, so I know how you feel. I just went out last week and bought CHIHUAHUA'S FOR DUMMIE'S and it is definitely worth it. I have not bought a dog yet, but there are a few breeder's that I have found in the area. The first is called BEDELL'SCHI'S. They are at 100 Bedell St, on Staten Island. Check out the website, www.chihuahuapuppiesforsale.com. I have not been out there yet. Another one is called Cathy's Charming Chihuahua's, she is located at 996 State Hill Rd, in Sharon Springs, NY, her phone number is 518-284-3210. It has been much harder than I imagined to find breeders in NY. Let me know if you go and check out the breeder, and I will let you know if I find any more.

I've got one for sale in HOUSTON!!! She's 9mo old, white with tan markings. Such a cutie! She's long haired and just 3lbs!!! I've had a short and long haired chihuahuas and the long haired ones don't shed hardly at all! I've got her AKC papers. Energetic, but when you pick her up, she's quiet and still! Walks on a leash Almost completely potty trained "sits" pretty good Moving in with friends who have pitbull. Must sell. Please do not purchase any puppy from a store. It helps create a demand, which business conscious people take advantage of. All dogs from stores come from puppy mills or what some stores call breeders are not the typical breeders as we know they, they are commercial breeders. Commercials breeders do not specialize in one or two breeds, but rather mate as many females of various breeds as fast as they can so they can go around and sell the pups and do the process all over again. Most females get pregnant over and over no matter how sick they become until they are of no longer any use. Commercial breeders are puppy mills. A good breeder who cares about dogs will not ship their dogs out to anyone who hasn't been checked out. The Puppy Boutique or Puppy Petite, from Brooklyn, NY, as they call themselves now are just people in a store trying to sell as many pups as they can for money. The are not breeders. They get a shipment of new pups in every week. What does that say about them.

Hey...well yea im 16 and my sister and i have been looking or a chihuahua for almost 6 months now.(we are still working on the parents..lol) But our dad says yes but my mom doesnt think that he does...and oh la la i could go on forveer about it. we live in cuddebackville Ny which is far out country but it is in the tri state area, hudson valley, orange county. ny that is. lol. But we havent been able to find the right chi yet bc there is only puppy milled pet stores that sell chis and they are like 2 thousand dollars and are normallly not a good thing to get a dog from...though there are exceptions.we are looking for a female. and really want to get a chi with a great personality and that is friendly enough for our family. She would like a teacup but they are expensive and we( the two of us) right now only have about 400 dollars soo we arent hoping to spend to much more than that. We really would never breed our chi. She would be our pet and all of our pets get lots and lots of attention. We only have one dog and she is getting old and we had my aunt stay with us for a while and she had a puppy adn it seriously made her feel so much younger and alive. She isnt aggresive at all she barley ever grawls and she loves to take care of puppys. she has never been a mother though. lol....well if anyone has any suggewstions for a good breeder in my area email me at sbdp16@yahoo.com Thanks!!! :) :)

Hi Jackie, I just bought a girl chihuahua last week - purchased her from a well known breeder online - did a lot of research on the breeder and few of my friends purchased from her and are very happy - I live in Queens NY - I realized she needs a lot of time - and I have two little children that try to pick her up and hurt her - and my landlord is giving me a hard time keeping her - I am looking to give her - she's black and tan - pretty doll - she's the nicest puppy ever! she's only 11 weeks old - almost pad trained - but still having little accidents which is natural and very healthy - I have supplies and cage and her vet exam clearance - she still needs few shots left - but they're cheap - not expensive! I am trying to get some of my money back - $750 - would you be interested? I'll send pictures...

Im 16 years old and I would like to get a chihuahua i know what kind i want and everything.(A male pup,apple head chihuahua)i know i will have alot of time to spend with it and love it.i did alot of research on them and i really think a chihuahua would be right for me.Were do you find the right breeder??(i live in brooklyn NY)and how much would a pup cost??HELP!!!! Well victoria luckly for me my best friend was a chihuahua dog breeder so i got my chihuahuas from her so i don't really know what breeder u should get your dog from and besides i live in spain not where u live my dear and i am so sorry i can't help u best wishes and good luck love claws.!

Now I am looking for Chihuahua either plain white color or black-white color with short hair and 1-2 months old. Do you know where I can find this type? My area is in Houston, Texas. After I have searched for a month in my area I can't find it. I think people in Houston are not Chihuahua's fans. Anyway I do not mind to get from out states and I rather to get he/she in person. Please let me know what is a good choice for me. Thanks

I just turned 15 & for a long time now I have admired Chi's. I would really love to get one but the cost of a Chi in California is outrageous. i am in NYC and can help find a chihuahua puppy... please don't patronize pet shops as many get their "stock" at puppymills!!! very VERY SAD!! Look for local breeders. I am looking for a tiny female chihuahua. currently I have a yorkie and love its personality. I would love another one but I do not want to have to spend the money on grooming every other month. I am worried though about the disposition of chihuahuas. Are they generally always scared of everyone except their owners? How do their personality differ then that of yorkies?

Just check your local News papers, or Phone book. Then make sure its really what you want, because chihuahuas are just like children you need to be truly dedicated. Good luck!

Hi, I live in Upstate NY, Near Saratoga. I had a chihuahua. Sadly he passed away about a month ago. I am looking to buy a new chihuahua smooth coat male puppy. The only problem is I can't find a breeder anywhere near me that wouldn'tcost me an arm and a leg. I work at a vet so he would have proper care.
