Copha is derived from coconut oil. I know Germans have an eqivilent called Pamir (meaning from coconut). Perhaps that may be found in the UK??

Cookeen (available from waitrose) sometimes does the trick, especially for crackles.  You can get copha from the Australian gift shop in Covent Garden, London

Tesco have solid coconut cream, I wonder if that might be very similar. I have a recipe which also calls for copha, and I hope to try it, using the tesco one. I think I might try it using half quantities, though as I imagine it to be very sweet, and I may be the only one eating it.

I've not found anything here in the UK that does the job like copha. I tried  'Cookeen' types of stuff which are ok at best, but Cookeen is fat and tastes like fat. So combine the taste of fat with sweets and the whole thing just doesn't quite sit right.
